Now we’re saying all star is too difficult? C’mon now lol did I end up in the twilight zone?
For the average player, yes, I think AS is too difficult. Too many bats miss too many balls. Striking out 15 times every game is discouraging to the average player.
I think people are playing less, and newbies aren’t sticking with it. I find myself waiting too long to get matched in a game for it to be June. I think that is because the average player not only struggles to score runs, but they struggle to even put the ball in play.
Again, I’m doing okay in terms of wins and losses, although I think my offense is bad. But hey, if this is what the community is happy with then so be it. Like I said before, though, if this game gets any more difficult many users are going to walk away.
maurice you are a great guy - we all know each other for years - canuckler is skepple i believe - but he is right here - how do you honestly think that AS is too hard? you are a good player from what i remember too
i hardly play due to being an adult with other stuff to do but when i do play i love the game - i am 11-2 in RS and the hitting feels just fine to me
I really think it is too hard, Hungry. Not necessarily for me; I’m doing better than most of my opponents. But in all the years we’ve played, this version is the hardest. All Star used to be absolute hell. Couldn’t get anyone out. Remember that? It isn’t that way anymore. Far from it.
If you get a chance to play more; get above 50 games played in RS and you’ll see what I’m talking about. You’re a good player, and so is Skepple. I think I’m alright, too. I’m not saying this because I’m struggling. Like I said, this isn’t out of frustration on my part.
But in all my years and experiences playing this game, this version is the hardest to score runs. If that’s good or bad is up to the user, I suppose. Certainly there is a point where a game becomes too difficult to keep the interest of the casual player, right? My point is that this game is in danger of passing that point.

i hear you completely..... fair enough on your position.... i personally hated last year with everything being hits - i like games being hard - maybe i am just a certain type of gamer and in the minority here

Skepple15 to be exact
Ironically I remember how good Maurice was in the good old days. If he is seeing more strikeouts on AS then something is not panning out. I, on the other hand, am seeing many more fouls hit with two strikes despite the fact that the feedback is showing the ball outside the outer PCI ( which was supposedly shrunk this year to induce more strikeouts) which leads me to believe there is something in the sliders that are behind the scenes. I can hit AS all day even with outlier but move me up to HOF and my strikeouts triple per game. For today's casuals though, AS is probably too hard with the pitch speeds, connection speeds etc controlling the game.
that's fair buddy i hear you ....

In the past, the Show 21, I would get destroyed in RS. Now in '23 the worst loss was 5-1. I think hitting has gotten a lot more difficult or I've improved. Depends on perspective.

So I guess if you were undefeated then the game would be just right?
So tired of you people not wanting any challenges in this game.
Don’t be tired, bro, and don’t put words in my mouth. I didn’t say I should be undefeated, or that the game shouldn’t be challenging. I’m 51-30 and my average is like .230-something. What does that tell you?
I just played a guy who had everyone in his lineup to P5, with tons of homers and RBIs, but his highest batting average was .215 (Charisma Wander Franco). Most guys were between .140-.175 (including WBC Trout).
Take the streamers and goons out of the equation, and nearly everyone struggles to score runs. You think that’s how it should be? Twelve or more strikeouts every game? I don’t think a video game should play like that.
You’re on pace to win 102 games if you were a real team playing 162 games and the Dodgers are batting .238 this season. I don’t see a problem here.

Only scrubs get stuck out 12 times a game

Right lol most of us are .500 or worse

I’m average it is kind of hard. But I’m guessing I’m learning it’s a connection thing. I’m not top 100 but each game my hitting seem different. I’m very early on 102 and then late… and my pitching is all random no matter where I put my locator. If people just waited eventually one will float. But all in all I’m not enjoying online. It keeps me away from ranked and I play events but the moonshot event is another unbearable experience for me personally.

I completely agree with almost all the comments throughout this thread. Especially about how the connection plays a factor. I consider myself an average player. I normally play in the 600's and win more than I lose. I can also put up some decent runs in BR (6-8 wins) and complete the program pretty fast. All of my numbers...win/loss, batting average, etc. say I am doing fine, but it doesn't always feel that way. There is just something about gameplay that is off. (Even though it is better).
It seems to me that PCI alignment is even more important than previous years. I can have good timing and the center dot just be a touch off and that seems to almost translate to hitting something directly at someone. Most of my RS games involve a handful of singles, few doubles and normally a few homers. However 95% of my runs are scored on the homers. If I have a single and then after it have something lined up in the inner PCI with good timing, it almost always is a double play ball or fly out. I just can't pinpoint things, because the numbers add up...it just seems like the way runs are scored does not make for enjoyable gameplay. It also makes me feel like I play worse than I really do. I may have 10+ hits and draw a walk or two, but only score two runs

You actually helped make my point. The Dodgers aren’t on pace to win 102 games. They’re 44-34, on pace for 91 wins (.564). A 102-60 record is .629
So, I hit just as poorly as the Dodgers, yet in this game I win significantly more than the Dodgers.

Won 2-1 last night. Was a fun game.
It's not hard. Just learn patience. -
Not hard at all challenging at times for sure but 337-79 in online rated while only using the Reds on HOF hitting and legend pitching
-
I don’t play online and usually play the pirates on rookie. I suck.
Someone who is 50-30 online on all star should not be complaining about difficulty

Did they ban the cheaters that make the top10 by freezing games? I hope they did

If you strike out 12 times in a game on allstar then it’s on you
You need to practice more- I bet if we watch you play and see how un patient you are at the plate and your approach
It would be easy to see why u strike out 12 times a game
Practice practice practice… and by that I don’t mean just go into ranked and play bc you’re not in the practice mind state- at that point you’re too worried/nervous about winning
Go into casual 1v1 allstar or HOF and form an approach at the plate- do this a lot and I promise you it works

I have struck out 12 times before but I don’t every game. Usually I’m around 5 strikeouts per game. However, I routinely strike out 12 or more of my opponents.
As I mentioned in other comments: this game is too hard for the casual player. I am not the casual player. The increased difficulty does affect me, but it doesn’t cripple me. I am still winning the same percentage of games I always have, just having less fun doing it.
In my opinion, the increased difficulty has crippled the casual player. I was trying to state an objective fact: it has become harder to score runs in MLB The Show between 2015 and now. I also believe that if they make it any more difficult to score, they will lose casual players.
Whats sad is you can always tell when your opponent is going to quit. It’s something like the fourth inning. You’ve put a few runs on the board, but your opponent has struck out 9 times already. Then they get a perfect perfect that results in a line out…Quit. I don’t necessarily blame them. It’s demoralizing to not be able to put the ball in play.
Thanks for the advice, though. Maybe I will practice more.

Don’t forget the cpu blasting random HRs on great pitches and being very early on 103 mph fastballs. Yes at times the cpu just hangs meatballs and flails away but on rookie difficulty they shouldn’t be laying off borderline pitches, dotting the strike zone, blasting 103 mph fastballs, you can tell when it just feels “off”.
