Set 3

I’m all in for a new update but a update that will happen soon I think will be a major issue. So as you all may know that when set 3 comes out you will not be able to use set 1 cards anymore competitively. As a person who grinds the game and spends money on it I think that the update for the set 1 cards to mean nothing should be removed. Is it just me?

Nope, It’s not just you…I’m a whale, I admit it. I spend $2000 - $3000 on this game every year. I’m going to give SDS the benefit of the doubt to pivot and not make cards non usable online. If they don’t then I’ll be done after this season. I like my team, I like the cards I’ve grinded to P5. If all my work & money are going to be thrown away then I will take my money elsewhere. I refuse to be treated like this.

Are you saying you think they are removing Set 1 as in nobody will be able to use them or you think they should just scrap the sets and seasons and anyone can use any set any time? I don’t think there is any plan to remove the cards from the game, you just can’t use them in certain modes like RS or TA 3.
Personally, I think they will need to pivot either way, people are not happy with the progress of the game.

They F’d up the theme teams by 1) not making the boosts powerful enough. 2) By actually adding negative attributes for using captains. That’s why you never see theme teams in ranked. That’s on them for blowing it.

I admire you for admitting you spend that kind of money on The Show. I guess, if you have it, why not. If I was rich, I think I would. All I bought was a 50 pack bundle in April.

Well, whatever their results and feedback are for the sets and seasons, I don't see them changing course mid year.
Secondly, this has all been known since before release when they first did a stream about it pre-release. I have been an opponent of it since that stream happened. But because I did realize what was happening I have not grinded much at all, far less than I normally would have.
What I guess I am saying is that none of this should be a surprise to anyone.

Everyone’s situation is different. Just because I spend money on the game, I don’t think everyone should. I’m 46, Have a successful career & a family. Video games are how I relax. I don’t have the time to grind 99 but I do have plenty of disposable income. And while some will say that I can just buy the next set of players - Yes I could, But I won’t. I spent 400k to get Mantle. I spent 400k to get Mauer. Now at Season 3’s end I’ll only be able to keep one on my team online…F that. I’m not gonna just keep paying for rentals. There are lots of other games I love playing too, I’d rather invest my time & money in those instead of playing this rental format SDS has decided to embrace. If enough whales stop buying stubs then SDS will change their tune.

I agree 100%. There are far more usable 99's from set one than set 2. The only way I can see them salvaging this is by doing Legends for TA 3, and they all need to be 99's, not these 97's they've been making us grind for. If set 3 continues to offer the best cards in packs and chase packs only, most of us will be done.

I’ve bought this game every year since it was 989 Sports. Ever since 18 this game has been rolling south. If they continue with this format, which I believe many people don’t like, I will leave it. As much as I love baseball, these endless mindless grinds for subpar players is exhausting. Then Mantle and the likes are behind a 1% success paywall. Not for me

There may not be a power crep this year so we won't see 91 and 92 from April get forgotten like in past years but I bet we see alot of April and May cards get forgotten real quick in set 3 when better version come around or since that number in the corner weighs so heavy on people a new 99 version of a card

Right. We not seeing another 99 trout etc. That's why they added the stupid wild card slot. We will now get 97 Trouts etc , just like we got a 97 Griffey Jr. This is the formula. No need going back and forth with this cdn fella. He is in bed with Sds.

Right how dare I enjoy this game and provide a counter point. I love how the idea of debate has been lost in the world today and we have gone to a style we're if you don't agree with someone the only logical reason is that they are in bed someone or something.
If that's you defense then what's your argument here there is none. Pretty sure we could get 2 more 99 Trouts. Sig Series in Season 3 and then Awards Series in season 6. You state there is no way they do that yet we are 3 months into the new structure so how can you say it won't happen. I am willing to eat my words I 2 month if I am wrong and we don't see repeat 99 but are you if we do and they are better?

Because every time one card becomes obsolete, you will have to spend stubs to buy the new shiny one. Whether you already have the stubs or have to buy them. They want you to spend $$$$$. That's my take anyway.

This probley supports my position cause you put 99 Trout in a chase pack in Set 3 you know people will chase.
It's not the ideal way to have it done but the evidence is there.

They are not going to re release 99 trouts in season 3 or any other 99 card re release so soon you guys are smoking stuff this morning
. Wild Card Slot is there for a reason. Now will they ever re release a prior 99 card? Sure maybe by season 6 wwhen game is completely dead. -
