Screen Output Settings -PS5/TCL 6 Series

Recently bought a TCL 65R655 and was hoping someone on the board could confirm/disprove some theories/questions I had. Initially, I set up the PS5 as 1440p 120hz before realizing my TV would support 4K 120hz HDR10 for this game (allegedly). It appears my VRR wasn't activated until I recently switch my sound output to PCM (sound bar).
Prior to this, I had my HDMI's going through my sound bar (2.1) that connected the PS5 to the TV with DTS activated. Now I have my 8K HDMI directly to my PS5 and optical cable from the TV to sound bar (there is a bit of a delay but I'm not worried about it).
Is this the best settings to run or am I missing something? Does MLBts 23 actually output 4K 120hz? Thanks in advance
