Honestly I shouldn’t need to get better the game needs to play better online. It’s not people’s fault that the game has massive frame rate issues and the core mechanics are inconsistent during online play. It’s something a lot of people would love to enjoy but only like 10% of the player base actually enjoys the game online with a disproportionate number of people who do frequenting this forum.
All the practice in the world isn’t going to overcome balls freezing/disappearing before they reach the plate throwing off all the timing. The game probably needs dedicated servers because a quick gander at the leaderboards show massive amounts of network manipulation going on.
There are many people actively trying to affect the multiplayer in anyway that they can which makes it even worse.to the people saying it plays fine I really wouldn’t be surprised if they are the ones on horrible connections because the way modern lag compensation works is it penalizes better connections in favor of poor ones.
There are top players that I don’t understand why they still play. Then there’s a bunch of people in the middle. Then there are people who are just awful at the game for whatever reason. Everybody who is stuck in the middle is at the mercy of the game. So when I say get wayyyy better I mean if you’re one of the top 100 it won’t bother you because you will put up 20 a game anyway.

I was able to complete all the offline content, so I’m looking to put in some time online this week. I’ve played 1 game for each of the online modes, but which online mode (BR, Ranked, Event etc.) would be the most rewarding for 5 days of play?

Is that for going 12-0? As you yourself said, there is a top cadre who can achieve that record. The majority likely can't although maybe with some luck. Personally I get much more out of doing well on Diamond Dynasty with players I grinded to obtain.
