Why is Hit Distribution Sooooo Far Off?
-
These days roughly 2/3 of hits in MLB are SINGLES.
In The Show...it's almost like it's inverted. 2/3 of hits are HOMERS!
Seriously, why is it so bad?
66% singles
20% Doubles
2% Triples
12% HR'sThat's the actual breakdown.
And I get it...it's a video game. People want to hit bombs, The numbers don't have to be exact, but they aren't even close. They actually might be inverted!
It's almost a HR or nothing. Doubles come when you barely miss a HR.
Why are those of us who actually like baseball forced to play what is essentially HR derby?
-
Because you guys play DD where there are over powered and unrealistic cards where guys have 125 for their power rating

True. And I get that. The players being used will have an effect.you're also using pitchers with overpowered and unrealistic ratings too.
Even with that, the distribution shouldn't shift that much.
Good hitters with power are still only going to see 20-30% of their hits leave the yard.
Judge hit 62 last year and had 177 hits. That's 35%. The year before it was 25% for him 39 of 155.
Just wish it was kinda closer to the real numbers...or that SDS would give more love to those of us who are baseball "purists".
I enjoy DD because of the freedom to play different lineups and use historic players. But I prefer the actual gameplay in Online Ranked.
Problem is, I can't use anything but the current teams.
Where is the middle ground?

The middle ground is MLB 18 where HR/9 mattered. Sounds fun right? Bring on the singles!!! The ball would literally slowdown and stop mid air. It was the worst MLB ever made. SDS took the MLB 18 stats off their servers so nobody ever has to look at them again. Like 800 people played for more than a month.
Online franchise was the best for realistic gameplay. It didn’t cost money and you could use whoever you wanted. Obviously SDS removed it. But don’t worry, there shouldn’t be any server issues and freezes now that online franchise is gone. How them packs going today fellas Perfect/Perfect?

If you guys want realistic stats and results STOP playing DD. DD is nooby casual arcade baseball. If you want to play proper video game baseball play Franchise with a decent slider set and crank up to pitch speeds. I max out pitch speeds and you can really see the zip and movement of pitches like real baseball and especially with this year's game. Sinkers and 2 seam movements are beautiful at max speeds ...you DD newbs can't see this because you're forced to play at default pitch speeds.

So…only play the CPU? Sounds like fun…

Yes, once you've got your sliders set properly the CPU will mimic playing a baseball game much better than an average DD player that just wants to hit Homeruns all day and not move a runner along or take a walk. Hence why DD is for arcade baseball and Franchise is for a simulated experience of baseball. Problem is most of you DD guys don't want to take the effort of testing out sliders, so be it...you made your newb bed now lay in it

For some it is. For others it is not. No need to eyeroll just because you don't understand or agree with their point of view.
It's a wonderful world where different people find a vast array of activities fun. For some simply putting a jigsaw puzzle together is fun, while for someone else it might be skydiving or mountain climbing.
In MLB the Show some people love RTTS, some love Franchise, some love offline DD and others love online DD. They are all correct and none of them are wrong in their opinion

No need to put words in my mouth. I didn’t realize a simple “eye roll” emoji could trigger you that much. Jeez.
I have almost zero interest in sitting around and playing the CPU. Not in 2023 and not after playing the CPU in video games for more than 25 years.
I didn’t say ONE negative thing about anyone who does want to play the CPU to their hearts content.
It’s just not for me. And not why I have an interest in playing the video games that I do. I’m looking for the competition, strategy, and social aspect that comes with playing another person.
It’s the same reason I enjoy playing 2K, playing poker, and coaching football.
I spent most of my video game life forced to play the CPU…or find ways to have leagues/dynasties with friends who were within a distance close enough to move thru at a decent pace and battle each other both on and off the digital field.
In one respect, it’s kind of a shame that all these cars collecting modes have made online franchise modes a thing of the past.
I think you are really going to see this become an issue when/if EA finally gets another NCAA Football game launched. That game was built on its Dynasty mode and the ability of people to play against their friends in that mode. Without that, I’m not sure how the game operates.
A card collecting team mode doesn’t really fit with college football…so it will be interesting to see how EA handles this and how they try to monetize it…because you know they will- it’s just the day and age we live in.
Is it a monthly subscription for access to online dynasties? Some other way? We shall see, I guess.
If they are able to do it, perhaps we will see a shift from the loot box card collecting modes…or at the very least the addition of deeper more realistic online modes that span multiple seasons like what OOTP does, but with actual gameplay.

Lol guy still thinks maxed out sliders offline even compare to online DD. You are playing underwater wiffleball with a fischer price jumbo bat against blindfolded players coded to strike out over 50% of the time. So intelligent you won’t even play against a functioning brain. Do you win when you play tictactoe with your shadow, and scrabble vs the man in the mirror or nah?

Newb sauce, I think you're confusing what proper sliders mean. It's not "maxed" out, like put everything up to benefit you. It's adjusted sliders to mimic realistic baseball results. For example roughly a 50 hour sample size to get average RL baseball results..ie. average base hits per game, strike outs, starting pitcher before being pulled, baserunning timing and so on. And for me it's important to play at maxed pitch speeds cause it's mimic RL reaction times which generally is in the .4 second range. The Show 23 seems a bit slow, they should go back to maxed out pitch speeds to The Show 19, that was fairly close to RL as per a frame test with a dude from OS. Also max pitch speeds cause it gives good pitch movement not nooby DD pitch speeds where it looks like slow pitch baseball. And for me it's Legend pitching and legend hitting with max pitch speeds with adjusted sliders not 'Maxed" out sliders. And please guys, no eye roll emogies, we're trying to talk baseball not start WW3
