It's not whether it can be done or not, it's the question of is it worth the irritation and sheer annoyance with the slider adjustments, commons and bronzes that all play Ozzie defense and endless perfect perfect outs
I get that, but at the end of the day... we all have aspects we don't enjoy in this mode, and if they cater to everybody then there is no mode left. I hate PXP missions so much... but I still have to deal with them to complete programs. At least Showdown is quick, while PXP missions could take up to 8 hours to finish them for 1 program.
Shouldn’t it be my option how I would like to do it? That’s my issue why do I have to choose one way cause I’m forced to and I am stuck at 54 points without it
Sure, if they also make Moments and PxP missions optional too.
I don't see why only the mode you dislike should be made optional.
I personally stopped at 60 points and most likely won't advance further. Why? Because none of the rewards are worth me grinding PxP for 9 players who are earned so slowly that you are forced to do it over muliple games.
They can be if they make the repeatable 5k pxp mission
Buy I just said that the PxP is the part of the program that I enjoy least.

Here is the thing -- If i could have gotten to the Cruz card and then done the Showdown I prolly would have done it maybe not right away but I would have tried it. Now IF you really want the card well time to do a mode that can be annoying and such. They say play the way you want but yet then put walls in that push you into a path / mode. I thought you were better then this SDS and would love to see them hotfix this program to make that 5k mission repeatable.

Yes.... I agreed with you, but it's not just Showdown is my point. If they can make it optional for Showdown, they can make it optional for everything which would mean a huge program overhaul. I like Showdown, but hate doing the PXP missions. The PXP missions is by far the worst grind in this game. I had the moments and Showdown for the charisma program done in an hour last night and now the only way to complete it is doing hours and hours of PXP missions. The PXP missions need to be at least reduced a little. I haven't finished a single program yet this year because I don't have the time to grind hours of mindless games with specific players to get these done. If you prefer PXP say a certain team players to 2500 PXP for far less progress than a 30 minute Showdown... you should understand that I don't want to do PXP so much for the same reason you can't endure Showdown. If Showdown was repeatable... I would have every program completed by now because it's quick, easy, and a ton of program points. PXP imo is way too time consuming... we can't all play 8 hours a day, and shouldn't be required to in order to complete programs.

Nobody seems to understand that some of us hate the PXP as much as they hate Showdowns. They should just quick fix every program to allow things to be repeatable, to make everybody happy. The only people who would complain about that is the group that can play the game like a full time job, and think it's not fair for a normal person to be able to obtain the same rewards as them playing 8 hours a day.

Don’t waste your time, some people would rather play vs. CPU on rookie at a max elevation stadium for 30 hours than complete a showdown for some reason. I don’t get it.

So I finally had one of those “easy” experiences with Showdown that so many people write about. Plenty of outs left each stage, lots of crushed home runs. The right players for my style of hitting? The right perks? I don’t know…..it kind of reinforces for me how differently this game can play each time you turn it on. But I’ll take it and yeah, if it was always this “easy” then I understand all the confused comments from players who like it.
-
I'm terrible at this game and even I can eventually beat these Showdowns. It might take me a dozen tries before I win but I don't give up. If my old eyes and diminished reflexes can complete them I think anyone who really tries will eventually get it done too. Don't swing at everything, don't run into outs, and understanding how to play small ball is my advice to others who struggle with Showdowns.

The RNG can work for us at times too, even with Conquest, some games I am just mashing HRs off good pitchers in a slugfest. Then magically I forget how to hit against bronze and common pitchers and go 5-7 innings in a 1-0 game
-
To those that struggle with Showdown... can't stress enough how much easier they are if you are patient and wait for your pitches. If you have a hard time seeing balls out of the zone and in the zone, try just focusing on one spot like high, low, inside, or outside and don't swing at anything else. If you keep swinging at everything, you won't see many good pitches to hit. If you take balls... the cpu will throw more easy pitches to hit. If I'm struggling a bit or running down my outs, I focus on only swinging at a smaller area like middle and high, and swing at nothing other than that spot I'm looking for, and the cpu will start throwing meatballs often. The perks really help too the exit velocity ones all the time, and hero time is by far the best perk, because it's activated no matter what.

The amount of double plays I hit into in showdown is easily doubled compared to all other game modes I play offline or online. Every fielder has great fielding with great reaction

Just beat the Charisma one!
I continued it after I beat the first 2 bosses last week.
I saw a PSN friend beat it earlier, so I HAD to try. One time I was down to my last out, winning run on 3rd, infield in!
Ozzie Smith even blasted a HR to left at Comerica to beat Chafin!! I was freaking out
My favorite Met, Jeff McNeil won it for me with about 8 outs remaining with Albies on 2nd. Whew!!
I'll re-try the WBC one soon.

If you can't beat Showdowns, you are either swinging at every single pitch or you are not hitting in any mode anyways, so why only cry about Showdown.
I wanted to come in here and whine about showdowns, but this statement is just so true. I have a lot of trouble with showdowns, but I do much better when I am patient and wait for good pitches to hit. I also do better when I am confident as opposed to anxious, i.e. I have been playing well in other modes lately.
Having said all that, I do wish that there were only one or two elimination showdowns on the path. The WBC path with 100% elimination showdowns is just ridiculous.
Majority of the showdowns are set-up this way... the only one with Blue showdowns from what I know is the Starter Showdown.

I was having a lot of trouble completing these at first but have been completing them now. Some tips I can say is the failures actually help you get used to the pitchers you’ll see and that’s a big help. Bunt runners over every time to stay out of double plays. Helps a lot

Completed the Charisma Showdown last night on the 4th try when I beat every other one this year on first try. I always think about bunting runners over and don’t for some reason. It’s a good strategy especially if you need one run and know you can at least fly out twice while moving the runner each time.

when I failed I for the most part figured out what batter is the lineup gets assigned what base in scenarios where you have a runner or runners on base and that has been a game changer, in addition to that it also allowed me to see the handedness of the pitcher (which I should've looked up beforehand) to properly set my lineup.
as Jay-Z once said "I never lose because even in defeat, there's a valuable lesson learned, its a win-win for me" or something like that.

The Diamond bunt cheese perk and fast players does wonders in Showdown. Not my preferred way to play a game but it seems to work ok. If you try to bunt runners over with a drag bunt and diamond bunt cheese your odds of everyone being safe are pretty good

I have completed 4 of 6 Affinity Showdowns and a couple other programs but am struggling with Charisma which I really want to complete just to obtain Harrison and Cruz. I am almost resigned to getting them by the repeat of 5000 point missions. Time & patience will prevail.
-
The Charisma showdown sucks. I don't usually have a problem with Showdowns but I just failed for the 3rd time on this one.
-
I actually like Showdown. Patience is definitely key (if you struggle with hitting.)
Not everything should be easily attainable, but yeah i do..ya know..feel bad for those who have tried to be patient & still cant get the hits they need
-
I really need some serious help.
I've struggled with all the showdowns this year. I've only completed TA Central, and that took far too many tries for my liking. For Charisma I've probably entered 100 times (not joking -- I've failed plenty of times at Boss 1) and I'm so desperate that I've actually switched to Timing hitting just to try to beat it. Unfortunately I'm not doing much better.
I'm not a Show rookie anymore and I've dealt with my fair share of tough showdowns. I never beat Extreme in 20 but I did get Pearson way over 200 pitches on many of those tries. I'm not the best at being patient but I understand the concept in the mode.
What seems to be bothering me lately with all the tries I've attempted on charisma is that I'm not getting any reward at all on good contact and waiting for the right pitch. This seems to be the case whether I've attempted it in Zone, which I use all the time, or my recent (yesterday and today) attempts with Timing. In other words, the whole mode feels unbeatable when I get a perfect with Trout using Zone and it's caught on the track or a good timing (with Timing hitting) and I swing and miss somehow! It's bewildering and I'm astounded that I'm failing this many times at something I've always been able to get past eventually before.
Clearly it is beatable, plenty of you have done it already, but man, I feel snakebit right now. I'm at 50 points (no point doing the Harrison PXP yet when I need the Showdown points now) and it feels ironic that the Albies card is at 80 points and that's the one I really want.
Obviously I'm prepared for some kickback on my lack of skill. I get that, I'm clearly not even as good as I thought I wasn't, if that makes sense. I'd love some advice on whether I should just forget attempting it on Timing and keep playing Zone. I've been a Zone hitter since late in the cycle of Show 20 -- I started Directional when I bought 20 but it was clearly not a great way to hit online, so I gave it up pretty quickly. I found Zone hard but I stuck with it and yesterday was the first time I switched hitting modes since I moved to Zone.
My temptation to keep trying with Timing is that some of the bosses can be beaten a bit more quickly, but the Kelly moment with only 6 outs has killed me every time. I think the RNG in Timing is costing me with so few outs as he's not hung a meatball for me yet.
Thanks for any thoughts on this. I love Ozzie Albies cards and don't really want to give up on this, but at the same time, I'd love to keep being able to play the other parts of the game too! I have limited time to play the game with full time work, and being this stuck on this pivotal Showdown is sort of painful.
Appreciate any thoughts!
