I had him my rotation and DH in the starter showdown, his LS card which is an SP, should be no different for his WBC SP card.
Are you setting him up in both the rotation and as the DH prior to the game as in the lineup screen of the BR main menu area?
It was a showdown, and yes in the lineup screen he already was in rotation and was able to put him in as DH,hit in every game and the one moment that was pitching,he pitched it.
The only problem was I couldn't change his spot in the lineup, had to put in someone else at DH,change the DH spot in the order then put Ohtani back in at DH -

I haven't played Showdown or BR yet. But, I figured out you have to set him up in the normal lineup screen and cannot try to make the change before the game or in a game.

Yeah I see the difference when I play exhibition, anybody can be put as DH (including SP) but for BR only bench players can be put as DH prior to the game, and in the middle of a game you can only put a bench player or relief pitcher as DH

If that is the case, hopefully SDS will fix that issue!

Glad it’s not just me hitting this issue. I also drafted Ohtani as my first BR pick only to find him useless as he’s only a SP and can’t be used as a hitter. It’s very frustrating.
The simple solution is for SDS to allow SPs to be added to the lineup and used as pinch hitters. If you can use a RP in that fashion it’s a one line code change to allow SPs as well.
Fix it SDS!

Lol still cant use Ohtani as a two way player

We are aware and looking into it!

Just like in the tech test, same with the jerseys. These issues were reported in the tech test. Wonder why it hasn't been addressed and also wonder what else was left untouched.

Any update on this one @CBrev47_MLBTS ? Still waiting to start playing BR so I don’t waste my free BR entry

Got it it got it. So the WBC version is based on him closing, makes sense. Have you been able to use him as a 2-way with his SP versions? Jw if it’s really possible
There is a chase Pack starting pitcher version you can use as a DH.

Yes. But not currently in BR as there is no way to put him in as the DH.

Leaned this the hard way last night unfortunately

I'm not 100% certain, but im pretty sure that in regard to BR Ohtani is locked in as a SP. I think the reasoning behind that is because in the BR draft you kinda either pick a bada** 99 hitter or pitcher, so the 2 way ohtani would kinda defeat the purpose they are going for (trust me i wish it was 2 way as well haha). But hope my 2 cents might help.

Any updates? Kinda annoying that I wasted my first draft thinking I can use Shohei as a two way

They'll probably acknowledge an update to this when they acknowledge an update to Mini Seasons. And I'm not saying that to be smart or contradicting.
I can see a HUGE patch incoming soon.

Not sure if people have attempted this, but if you draft an Ohtani, couple that with a common or bronze fielder later in the draft. Take a fielder that you like and put him at DH, take the common or bronze player and put him in that players position on defense and place him in the order where you want Ohtani to hit... then when the game starts move the DH to his position which forfeits the DH allowing Ohtani to hit... yes it's quite a bit of manuevering but that's all I got until SDS figures it out. I know in the regular part of DD you have to go to DH slot and when you go to sub on your Manage Squad screen the available Ohtani cards that can DH will be available even if you already have him in your starting rotation.
Also side bar: It looks like they fixed it where if you have multiple cards of a player you can now see the card available as a sub.
I know at launch in order for me to switch from Captain David Wright to Rookie David Wright, I had to put another card at 3B and then go back in to put in Rookie Wright.
Last night I had WBC Cruz (Padres) in the DH spot for my NMS team and when I went to the sub menu the TA Cruz (Orioles) was available as a sub... I think ultimately I decided to stick with WBC Cruz but its nice to know that I don't have to do a workaround for that anymore, not to mention I can easily compare the difference in the two cards now.
