I’ll take this for myself, I’m pretty sure I am above average at the game and that should be big for a person that never played baseball, not sure about being good. This mindset should help with ranked losses and push me to keep improving my game.

Up until last year, I would be mad at The Show, too. But then I applied my mindset toward golf to this game, and I’m able to enjoy playing it again. You win some, you lose some. My family’s next meal doesn’t depend on my performance in Ranked Seasons. Lol.

I’m a competitor. And in my younger days I was a pretty good athlete. All sports came pretty easy to me. Then I played golf…

Very humbling. But I was still a fierce competitor, so I would get mad at my bad shots; slamming clubs and cussing up a storm.

One day I was paired with this elderly couple. I’m playing awful, as is customary, and cussing up a storm. The old man walks up to me, puts his hand on my shoulder and calmly and gently tells me:

“You aren’t good enough to be mad.”

Just something to think about for those of us who get mad at The Show…Are we really good enough to blame the “mechanics” or the “hitting engine” when we take losses?

I’ve since taken my golf game way less seriously. And although I still suck, I have a much better time when I’m on the course.

Can relate 100%. I’ve broke a few clubs in my early days and as the years have gone by, I’ve learned/try to just have fun when golfing. Beer helps.

Love that quote, will definitely remind myself of that when I inevitably get frustrated next round. On a good day, I’m shooting in the high 80s lol

I used to break 80 a lot . Worked hard to get good enough to do so.

I have actually said to people before you haven't put enough time in to be mad at golf. Not even close. My favorite with golf is the 20 handicap goes to the range hits a a couple irons then hits driver for the remainder. The best part.....walks right by the putting green.

Oh I’m horrible at golf. Breaking 100 is a great day for me. But I’m a great partner. I keep the group loose, bring the cigars, and, oddly, am a really good putter. So for those scramble tournaments I’m a good guy to bring along.

While I admit there are times I hand my opponents free outs, but too many times lately SDS AI is the player of the game. Had a game this morning. I was up 3-0 on an 800 level guy with an insanely good W-L percentage.

Then in the 8th SDS AI came to his rescue. Almost all of my pitches that inning were perfect/good, but either went miles out of the strike zone for two free walks, which set the stage where I aimed a pitch way out of the zone because he was willing to expand the zone the inning before, I can't remember if it was perfect or good, but instead the pitch went dead center of the zone for a free, game tying home run.

I knew I was going to lose and predicted a 5-4 final, and sure enough I was right. The loss unfortunately was totally my fault as I did NOT get a good release on a curve ball that hung and got sent to the seats for the walk off.

Stuff like that happens WAY too often. I honestly believe that all online games are simmed by SDS AI before the game and if you lost the sim they will adjust the game until they get the result they wanted.

Nah. It isn’t simmed before hand.

But even in the scenario you described, you would also be the beneficiary of an AI sim. Presumably at a 50/50 rate.

What used to bother me is the RNG of the extra chances. Here is what I mean:

Everyone has more or less the same team. A lineup full of guys with high contact, power, vision and discipline. And everyone has pitchers with high H/9, K/9, and clutch, etc.

But there does sometimes seem to be a discrepancy in whose ill-timed/poor PCI placement swings are harmless foul balls, and whose result in pop outs and easy grounders. It cannot be attributed to the better card(s), because they’re all good cards.

The person who gets the harmless foul balls, though, gets a number of extra chances to put a good swing on. Inevitably they’ll get that good swing.

If you’re an average or slightly better player, it can be frustrating, and feel like the game “scripted” against you.

If you’re a goon, it doesn’t really matter, because you can put a good swing on just about every pitch you decide to swing on. Extra chances aren’t needed.

When your opponent is getting harmless foul balls and you’re popping out, better get focused. Don’t waste an opportunity, and be careful not to give him one.

Haha. I think they knew what it was about but were just reminded of golf, enjoy golf, and wanted to share their experiences with that game.

But yeah, this post was definitely not about golf.

Oh it really happened, Ericulous1. I just didn’t share it here so that people would know how I came to enjoy golf. I had other reasons for sharing it.
