I honestly have been struggling hitting this year. It doesn't feel good in my opinion. PCI placement always seems to be off, even though I feel I place it where I want it, and then I end up being too early or too late on a lot of pitches that I feel like I've timed well. Not sure if it's me just playing bad, or if hitting is just that much different then the last couple years game.
same here...i think it may be a PS4 thing for me. But i get super low exit Velo on hits as well. PP for like 88 MPH, etc
That makes me curious tbh because I'm on ps4 too. Wonder if it feels better on the new generation consoles.

Just seems inconsistent to me. Maybe I’m just inconsistent. I’ll go from one night of grinding and putting up 10+ runs a game vs cpu on rookie to struggling to find a single run vs cpu on rookie.
Part of the issue i think is that even the lower difficulty at bats seem to be super grindy. 4-5 pitch at bats for every hitter on a rookie difficulty mini seasons game just drags them out. I tend to get impatient waiting for the pitch to hit , then 1/3 of those you perfect/perfect into a glove
Chasing pitches and swinging early on an outside or late on an inside pitch even if it’s only slightly has a dramatic negative effect , yet a hung curve or slider in the middle of the plate more often than not is a 50/50 ball.
Too much penalty for slightly off user input hitting , and too much random non sense from the CPU when batting just makes it feel like you need to be 100% on to enjoy playing this game.

Same here. Seems like 50% of the time the PCI stays smack dab in the middle even though I’m moving it to where the pitch is.

Maybe and hear me out of this but SDS has made input and pci location matter as such those off PCI hits and being late and early aren't being reward in years past.
In summary alot of people are learning a lesson that they aren't as good as they thought they were at this game

I'm running a PS5 and it seems off. I feel like I have to start swinging right when the pitcher releases it. Literally nothing on my setup has changed from last year where I could track the ball and swing on it.

For me it's not a matter of getting the PCI to the ball.... It's like I have to swing so early and the response time is way different this year ?

Maybe you're just getting older...
I'm not saying that to try to be a [censored], I just feel like nowadays when I start getting the least bit tired, I cant catch up to a fastball on veteran.

Mid 90s fastballs seem to be playing weird, someone could be starting Sandoval or Kershaw and timing the fastball will be off. As soon as they bring in a fireballer I'm timing up the 101-103 perfectly..... but I was consistently late on the mid 90s no matter how i try to adjust. Something is definitely off.

Lol... While I appreciate you not trying to be a [censored].... I don't think that is it. I'm sure I could fire up 22 and the swing timing would be fine.
-
I would agree with the timing being weird. I play on All Star and sometimes I feel like I swing before the ball leaves the pitcher's hand the I shown being late on the pitch. Very hard to time properly. Maybe I will fire up 22 also and see if it's just me.
-
This year Diamond Dynasty hitting seems much harder to me. Now, I am handicapped in that I'm still on XBox One with a wireless controller, and I was only 67 a year ago so there is that.
I mean they dropped a bunch of 99's out of the gate and my team is much stronger than my opponents in Conquest but [censored]. And even if you attack some strongholds at a max of 99 you still get the opponent on veteran.
-
Just wait until they drop the stats for April. Hitting averages will be "better than ever" or "exactly where they should be" LOL.
-
PP oppo tanks with power hitters routinely fail to reach the warning track. That's bad game design.
PP line drives seem to beam right at defenders. That's bad game design.
CPU pitchers on rookie throw way more balls, meaning grinding actually requires your attention this year. People have different opinions on this, but I don't like it very much...

Same with me . I play on the Xbox series x . Even on rookie it’s frustrating at times . To me the hitting is weak compared to 21 & 22 . Seems like a nice pci placement with the ball right in the middle of the pci I get very week contact . That’s pretty frustrating .

If you're facing a stronghold with 20+ fans, just put a force next to them and wait a turn or attack a hex somewhere else. They'll attack you, no matter what, and take themselves back down to 12 or so. Then you can hit them with 50-55 fans and play them on Rookie.

Let me know if you do and hitting seems more responsive! Like being able to actually track a pitch and swing when it is there and not have to swing early.

I only play offline but between nerfed hitting and CPU pitchers all having freakishly good break 23’ might be the fastest I’ve ever stopped playing.
