They’re the best cards in the game currently. Better or comparable cards will come with the upcoming seasons and you’ll grind for those. Could go two ways really , people could get tired of having to grind new cards and walk away , but you say it’s easy so maybe they won’t and it’ll extend the life cycle
Speaking from my own experience in the past few years; once I have a card with 120+ hitting stats I don't really care if they release another one. Or 10. I'll use 3B as an example. I used Finest Machado once it got released and there were many comparable 3B out there, buy I never even tried PS Alex Bregman for example. Simply because they are basically identical.
Now the thing here is that these cards were released late in the cycle. But now this issue exists early on. What made it so great to wait and grind for those 99 cards is that you had to use the lower cards for a good while, and then the jump to those really good cards was quite significant. Now that saturated feeling from the late game cycle where everyone and their momma has a 99 with insane attributes is already present at launch. I can definitely see OPs point.
I would say that players that only focus on numbered attributes are likely in the minority. Casuals run all video games , and casuals will target Overall , Names and Teams long before they’ll inspect the card and see if it’s actually usable at a highly competitive level.
I play every year , I don’t play much online due to having two cateracts and being color blind. I enjoy the names , I enjoy the childhood hero’s and learning about the future players and current ones I don’t already know. While I might be in the minority disability wise , I highly doubt my gaming philosophy is all that rare.
Ultimately I’m a baseball fan. As long as the game plays smooth and the competitive part is balanced I don’t see any issue. 99’s …. 88’s…. They all play the same when the counter is comparable.

99's with 125's in 20 stats ruin the game they dont make it better and haveing them on day 1 is just going the lazy 2k rout. all players have flaws and i wish the cards that were made showed that and instead of trying to make the gameplay extra hard for no good reason just focus on true stats on players not what mini game i need to play to pitch or throw or hit
Agreed. I liked the idea when it first came out because it was used for guys that were really exceptional at a certain stat. Now every card breaks 99 and if they don’t, they aren’t relevant to play with.

Totally understand this opinion. And I’m sure others feel the same. But if you’re right, and casuals only care about overalls, then what’s going to happen when they have a team full of 99s a few weeks into the year? I think that people will stop playing. And I think that’s going to happen much sooner than previous years for most people. Not everyone, obviously.

The hitting isn’t fun. Maybe to the sweats who live on the forums all day it’s rewarding I get that part. To an average or casual player it’s not fun or rewarding and they will leave sooner then later.

mate you keep repeating the same thing over and over - like a hamster on a wheel - there are many people who disagree with you here - your opinion is truly just that - and quite frankly, your opinion has no meaning to many of us on here - so you can keep repeating the same lines in different wording a thousand times over - nothing really changes except that the amount of your whining increases over time

Are you referring to online H2H or vs CPU game modes?
SDS tinkers with the Sliders in vs CPU modes (Moments, Showdown, etc.) so the grind will not be "too easy". What matters most is the quality of Hitting in RS H2H.

A lot of people aren’t going to want to grind for comparable players all year. A month from now, there’s not going to be any feeling of improving your team and I feel like that’s a big part of what makes or breaks interest in these modes.

I lose interest as soon as I have to do 65 moments to unlock a henchmen in order to grind more moments and stats for a single card. There are plenty of areas this mode could improve that’s for sure. The releasing 99’s early is not a great idea, but they want to generate revenue and what better way to do that than releasing 10+ 99’s in packs and locked behind online play that has been nothing less than infuriating since the change to 100+ attributes?.

I haven’t figured out if its me or the game but I’m finding the randomness confusing. One game I light up the scoreboard, the next I win a conquest game 1-0 in 4 innings. I’m not sure hitting is “harder” but timing seems inconsistent. Again, might be me and one year older eyes.

I'm personaly happy with 97-99 ovr cards in the game so soon. I was enjoying The Show most when these cards came into the game, but now we have them from the start, that's awesome for me. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone with this opinion.
And I also can't agree there is nothing to grind for, if you have 95-97 ovr team. There are still LS collections and in Set 1 collection you have ones of the best cards in game right now and it's not a short grind.
My only problem right now is I have too many options on every position so I don't know who to start. But this is part of the fun for me in this game, so as I said, I'm happy

They’ll still be targeting specific names and teams with higher overalls. Not saying it’s perfect but it should work to a degree. My biggest knock is the slog fest that you hit once showdowns and conquest maps are completed. At that point you’re only earning affinity xp with cards you didn’t want in the first place and only accruing gameplay xp for how you perform with this team you didn’t want to use in the first place.
I don’t play much online like I said , but I don’t see very much online relevant cards in the WBC program tbh. Those are in the xp reward program and on market.

I'm already bored of it. It's hard to keep interested when the only thought is it's the same thing as last year. Grind, new csrds, grind new cards,
