Does anyone else also think that this won't ever make into MLB action in its present form? I would be very surprised if on opening day it exists as is.

Was that the one against the Red Sox that ended in a tie with bases loaded?

    Cowboy yesterday on Reds broadcast:
"If you wanna walk around the batter's box, walk around on the mound...go be a model. Quit. Go be a model."

People are blasting is on Social Media.

Some are saying it's faster the old way then to go through the steps to give the strike/walk

Others are saying can you imagine a pitcher recording their 3,000 K on a technicality or losing a chance at a perfect game.

It's still spring training. Players will get used to it and it won't be a problem. In the 80s and 90s the game went at pitch clock pace naturally. For some reason people think the pitch clock is ruining the game when it's just forcing players to play like they did when baseball was at its best. These players have been doing this pitch clock thing for 3 days. I don't know that anyone will even notice it exists later in the season

I went to two minor league games last year when I was traveling for work. One AAA and one A. They had pitch clocks and I thought the games were fantastic from a fan viewing standpoint. So much better than watching MLB the last few years. I am strongly in favor of it coming to the big leagues. You don't realize how much of a difference it makes until you see it firsthand and how much it improves the enjoyment.

Obviously baseball fans dont care about it. Never does an actual fan say "How long has this game being going on?" They just enjoy the game. But MLB isn't trying to appease to the guy who is already a fan I guess. They are trying to grow the sport.

The pace could use a pick up. I am not against that. But at the same time MLB keeps making more rules that add more scoring. Which of course lengthens the game. There arent too many 3-2, 2-0 type games as there were in the 70's and 80's. So games naturally last longer.

99% of the games I've watched over the years were around 3 hours, roughly the same length as a typical NFL game, and nobody ever complains about them being too long. If every other game were lasting 4 or 5 hours then I can see maybe doing something about it, but as things stand now the pitch clock is the MLB trying to fix something that's not broken.

I love baseball. I've watched games live on TV and stated "this is taking too long." I watched an entire NBA finals game while the Mets played a game. After the NBA game I checked the Mets score only to find out that the game was just getting jnto the 6th inning. Ridiculous.

If a game takes longer because two teams are scoring -- great; The game is longer due to action. Watching a pitcher walk around the mound for a minute between pitches is ridiculous. There a difference between dragging a game out due to persistent inactivity, and a game running long because of high scoring/action.

Football has a play clock and guarantees action every 30-40 seconds. There is also a clock that dictates the length of the game.

Well i guess i was right. They are making some changes. And said they are open to making more adjustments as the season goes on based on player feedback.

I think the point everyone is missing is what @the_dragon1912 said which is that baseball players used to literally play at this speed until guys started doing all their little things between pitches like adjusting batting gloves etc.
The other point people are missing is the fact that these changes aren’t for the hardcore baseball fan that already watches, we would watch a 6 hour game. It’s for the people that have stopped watching because of all the extra [censored], people wives/husbands who don’t want to go to a game because it’s too long.
