My fear is that this moves SDS more towards the pay to win models every other ultimate team modes have. IF the best cards in a new set are only grindable (ie not in packs or other stub walls), then it might work. But if this is just a way to get more micro transactions, it will be a huge fail (think whales with day 1 LS + set 1 “bosses” too).

True. But... there are 99's and then there are NINETY-NINES. I was goofing around with some Monthly Awards 99's and they're not NINETY-NINES.

My fear is the part in the video where they say that you need to play with players in that "series".
I stopped doing POTM programs last year because I got tired of playing with players I did not care about while the ones I wanted to use instead got little playing time.

You won't be able to use the 99s anytime you want... that is the key to all of this. Despite the amount of cards that MLB The Show releases they are always looked at as being subpar compared to cards released for Madden and NBA 2K... having 99s day one is going to be a game changer. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out throughout the games cycle and looking forward to more information on Thursday to get clarification on when these cards will be able to be used.

I already decided I'm not buying this game, but if there was still doubt than this would've done it for me. Locking content in ranked?? Thats what restricted events are for. Huge L. Imagine grinding or paying your way too a card you really want and then next season you can't use him in ranked because "EvEn ThE pLaYiNg FiEld".

I do hope this isn't a cash grab, as this is definitely not modeled after EA or 2K. Heck NBA 2K23 just got their first two 99s last week almost 6 months after release, so this approach is unprecedented. SDS has always been far more generous with being able to get good cards by comparison to Madden and 2K and I have faith that will continue.
Definitely looking forward to more details though.

We all know not all 99s are equal, so honestly I bet this won't be as big of a deal as it sounds.
I agree this explanation was not great, this week's stream should clear it up.

Yesterday I commented on a youtube post regards to the announced DD-feature today that was: „Way not to listen to the community!“
I asked: „What did the community want? They wanted Jeter, they got it. What else did they want?“
Two answers followed:
- „Team Affinity“
- „The fact of not making a god squad that could last the whole year in a weak.
Number 1 is reasonable, although out of context, because they talked about DD-structures, not content
My answer to 2 : „So it is: We did not ask for anything we do not like when you change it“But your post nailed it. „The community“ is constantly complaining. Is that the way we go or should go ?!?!? Giving feedback is different from „constant and complaints“. Sometimes I ask myself if the video game hobby is still the right thing for those people or maybe the do not realise, that the negativism has gotten out of control
P.S. I am not native english speaking, so excuse the maybe weird sentences

Not the most accurate way of determining the quality of a product. The game released on two addition consoles over the past two year -- a reason for revenue to go up.
Madden is terrible and each year a record sales number i[censored].
I'm waiting to see whats presented in today's stream. The in game language doesn't do a good job of selling the new feature.

I think I saw something about theme teams? Not a huge fan of DD prefer online rated but I have fun trying to win with my Phillies theme team. I wonder what changes they made to it.

I just answered to you, stating (I figured, it was more blaming, I could be wrong) that that is the only thing they care about … which is a legit way of doing business (btw. measuring Quality is an art :))
In this modern world, it is extremely hard to figure out what quality is. Imo it is NOT listening to feedback like „L“/„Big L“/„Trash“ . If a product is bad, it is one way to look at sales, because delivering bad products will haunt you in the long run (aka „People not buying the product“)

Those are hardly the only 2 suggestions people have given SDS over the years. I alone have given suggestions in other threads 1 or 2 days ago. But I haven't seen your name around here since this year or so, so it makes sense that you haven't seen the suggestions and ideas throughout the years. But after a while of being completely ignored, people tend to accept the fact that it won't happen and give up and move on. The only thing left to do then is voice their frustration. Which is their fair right, we are all consumers of this game and we are entitled to deliver feedback in any shape or form.
It's tiring to see you cry for positivity in every single post, but guess what.. that's you're right also. But condemning the people who have legitimate reason to complain? Maybe humble yourself a little bit more around here. -

It's not hard to figure out in this case if you played every issue of this game. This is essentially what we are talking about.
You must remember that people who play this game love baseball. People will buy this product despite how good or bad it is simply because its the only baseball game on the market. RBI Baseball really doesn't count so people will keep the sales numbers up because they like baseball and this one is the only one available.
