Bought a controller about 3 months ago brand new and it's starting to act funny.

When I'm in the menus of The Show and I use the D-Pad to cycle through the tabs; it seems to jump a few tabs at a time.

Example. I went into BR and tried to move over from Play Battle Royal Game to View BR Program and even though I hit the right dpad once it cycled the whole way through to Forfeit Entry and I almost forfeited that run.

Also if I go into a menu that goes North to South; even if I tap down once it jumps four to five spots.

It will also do this if I use the joysticks; but will stop after I 'jiggle' them.

And sometimes when I go to select a tab, by hitting 'X' it either enters and exits real fast or I have to practically step on the button to get it to register.

Any suggestions other than buying another controller? Do my buttons and D-Pad need cleaned? If so, what do you recommend using? I tried to resync it thinking that was the problem; but that didn't work.

If it matters, the controller did fall off the couch, to the floor, about 12"-15 inches. But I don't think that could really mess it up this bad.

OK, I apologize if it seems like I am insulting you, but have you checked the cord from the controller to the console? I mean is it plugged in completely? I had this happen once. Also if you have a second controller, have you tried swapping out the controller? If your controller still acts the same way it might be your internet connection.

If the controller is fine, then try using that second controller, but swap the cord from the first controller to the second controller and see if perhaps that cable is going bad and needs to be replaced.

I don't run it connected. I play on a 55"inch TV and sit on the couch that's about 4 ft away from the console. Honestly, since I have a controller charging port; I only use the USB cable to sync a controller when it's new or if I have to reformat the game.

I replaced the other controller with this one and tossed the old one (it was at least 6 years old and was rough from the dog getting a hold of it and thinking it was a chew toy).

    But thanks for the suggestions.

I had to get a red controller because my cat kept attacking my original controller whenever I put it down. Sometimes when I am playing she would attack it there and well not good things happened to the play on the field.

I don't think that's the issue... I had a similar thing happen to me with a controller... it's getting stuck somewhere... for me I couldn't move to the left or down, can't remember but it was a disaster as I had to fight with the analog stick to force myself to go where I wanted my character to go until I finally decided to part ways with some games as well as my PS3 in order to get a new controller for my PS4.

Sounds like what I'm experiencing. Was playing a BR game the other night and my opponent hit it to the left field wall and my player crawled to get it. It was like they were running in quicksand.

Yeah I'm not sure if there's a fix... if you don't have insurance for the controller only thing I can think is to open the controller up and see if you can clean it or get it "unstuck". Me personally I haven't attempted as I primarily use my PS4 as a streaming device these days... might trade it in soon if I feel the need to but for now its more reliable to stream with over my FireStick.

Yeah. I definitely think something is up with the D-Pad and now maybe the left joystick. Was playing a pitching moment last night and after the CPU got a hit; the pitcher didn't to walk around the mound in a slow circle.

Try using a can of compessed air. You can it at walmart. You might have some dirt in the controller making it stick.

From what I can tell my issue is with the left stick but its also possible that there is an issue with the D-Pad. Based off what you are describing that sounds like we definitely have a similar issue.

Dampen some cotton swabs (q-tips) with a bit of rubbing alcohol and use this to clean around the base of analog stick and the buttons has worked for me, but I use it more as a preventative measure and I’m not entirely sure if it’ll help once it’s already started to stick. Between the oils from our skin, and the dead cells that we shed when combined together you get an amalgam that can become like chewing gum in the tiny gaps around the buttons…add in some Cheeto dust, salt, etc and the possibilities are limitless haha!

PS I loved the part about the cat attacking the controller thst someone mentioned
