Questions for the PS5 people

Hello! Over the last couple years, I’ve tried off an on to get a PS5. Now that they seem to be easy (or at least easier) to get, I’m not even sure it’s that big of a deal until MLBTS goes totally next-gen. The logical part of my brain is saying I should wait until the PS5 Pro (or whatever it is going to be called) comes out later this year or early 2024. But! I love electronic gadgets, so that part of my brain won’t shut up. I have a couple questions for the PS5 crowd:

If I initially decide to stick with the ps4 and start a new DD team with MLBTS23, is it possible to switch my progress over to a PS5 if I end up getting one midway through the year? Or am I kinda stuck with whatever I have on release day?

One thing I really don’t like about MLBTS is that the ball is often extremely difficult to see and gets lost in the sun when playing at certain stadiums. Minnesota is one of the worst for me. On the next-gen systems, is that still a problem, or does the higher dynamic range allow you to see the ball against a sunny sky? I have a 4K tv if that makes a difference.

are there any other games that are PS5-only that would make me want to make the switch sooner? I usually spend about April - January playing just MLB and then I cram a couple months of other games into the winter before the new game cycle starts. Just for reference, I really love Spider-Man and Horizon Zero Dawn 1 & 2. With that in mind, are there any games I might like that would require a PS5?

I can only address the first two.
- Yes.
- The game is clearer on a PS5 if your TV/Monitor handles the resolution.

I'm not sure about the progress being transferred, although I would think it would. Not 100% sure though.
The daytime settings which blinds you is still there. Can't change it other than better coding/graphics on their end.
Games worth playing are Gran Turismo, Elden Ring, Ghost of Tsushima and GOW Ragnorak. You can play all those games on PS4 too but the difference is very significant. Not sure if that's enough for you. Could wait but I loved the overall performance upgrade most of all. 120hz + VRR on my monitor makes a very significant difference.

There is no transfer of data between different consoles. All the data is on the server. It doesn't matter if they go to their friend's house for the weekend and play. As long as they use the same PSN account, their game will be there.

I see the ball out of the pitcher's hand better with a larger screen. While gaming monitors usually do not go larger than 32", the performance is usually better than what big screen tvs can do.
However, if you want the best of both worlds, get a 48", or larger, LG CX-C2 TV. This TV out performs most gaming monitors and comes with a big, high contrast ratio, OLED screen. That will also help you see the ball more clearly. It comes with HDMI 2.1, 120hz, VRR, ALLM, and input lag reduction features. All of these features will allow you to get the most out of your PS5.
I have a 65" LG C2 with the PS5 and MLBTS plays just fine, regardless of any stadium or lighting issues. This OLED TV with it's HDMI 2.1 and other gaming features, has basically been the best gaming monitor on the market for the last 2 years.

Honestly I feel like if you have the means to get the system now, get it now... most even come with a game. I got my system with Horizon Forbidden West end of July (I think that's the name of it) and my friend got her son one for Christmas with God of War Ragnarok (we traded codes).
I still want to get a Black cover for mine though... but yeah if the money is there for you to get it just go ahead and do it... I got a PS4 and saw when they released the PS4 Pro but honestly I don't know how much more you are getting out of a new system upgrade. I'd just get the PS5 that's out right now and enjoy it until the inevitable PS6 arrives in 7-10 years or so.

Good points! I think I’m just gonna get one as soon as possible. You’re right — no real point in waiting for the Pro when the PS5 is already such a huge upgrade. And there’s also no guarantee that I will be able to get a Pro at launch (or even within a couple years lol).
BTW — horizon: forbidden west (and horizon: Zero Dawn) are both OUTSTANDING games. As much as I’m enjoying The Last of Us on HBO, I would much rather see a big budget miniseries adaption if Horizon. Would be amazing if done properly!

Question for you, when I pull up the LG's game optimizer settings, it shows "VRR OFF" while playing MLBTS, even though I have VRR enabled in the PS5 menu and in the TV settings menu.
Didn't SDS enable VRR through HDMI 2.1 for the PS5 a few months ago?

In that case something in the settings of either the TV or the PS5 are not speaking the same language.
