Still Grinding for Mantle?
-
I'm optimistic about my chances, I need 5 All-Star, 10 2nd Half Heroes and 10 Rookie cards. ( I only need 2 of the 3) Started playing Ranked Seasons, if i can make it to 250 innings played and/or World Series by the 16th I should be able to get a few. Also the new Event and BR programs should have some that I need.
I've gotten good at flipping cards,it wouldn't be impossible for me to just buy what I need outright, but I prefer to earn them.
-
Just realized I don't need anything from Ranked Seasons, but would still like to get to 250 innings to get the Johnson, Halladay and Willis event cards.
-
I'm kind of far away as well. About 3 vouchers from Rollins. Very far from Ohtani.
It's late, now and NHL and NBA 2K have pulled me away a bit. I just bought RJ2 for 600K and used him only once, so no real need for Mantle, who I never hit well with.
It was a fun year. Frustrating at times, but fun. Time for an 'off-season' from Baseball, I guess. -
No. I confess, it was a struggle just to obtain Brett after the start of the Forever Program. At the end of the Forever program, I might have enough stubs for McCutchen or Jackie Robinson, but that's it. And that's fine: mental note to myself: do not spend much in the way of actual money on the game.
-
It very possible, just have to complete the programs. I suck at BR so that took me the longest. If it was easy they would just give hime away
-
I started flipping cards on the app in my downtime in November and got McCutchen, Rollins and Mantle before Christmas. Now have them all P5 and probably done until 23 comes out. Cards are a lot more expensive right now though.
-
I got him last night, also got far enough on BR to get Trout, could have gotten him last time but wanted the WalterJohnson Takashi card instead. Moving on to RS to get Randy and Halladay.

I’m finding that a lot of the cards necessary to get him at this point are simply not available. Can grind for the funds for them but they are truly not available in the community market and not obtainable through any of the game modes? Anyone else having this issue?
There are a lot of cards in the Moonshot event (forever). Take a look at that pack, there are 66 cards there. 4 - '22 Finest, 7 - 2HH, 7 AS, 2 Awards, 2 BO, 22 Finest, 4 FS, 1 MA, 3 MS, 1 PS, 1 Prime, 3 Rookie, 2 Sig, 1 TO, and 6 TN.
Sure, getting them all takes a lot of wins, but the event is forever.
I've done the last two BR and got Cutch (after the first one), and am still shy one ticket for Rollins and seven for Mantle. I've begun playing ranked (400 series player) and am grinding out the innings to get those packs.
After that, I'll begin the Moonshot event and see how far I can get. If I don't get Mantle by the time 23 comes out, it's an "oh well" for me.
I've never done Events, RS or BR before, so this is all new to me. It's discouraging to lose so much, but when I get one of those packs, it helps

I managed to get Rollins finally, but given the price of the cards I'd need to get Mantle, I gave up on that. I hope there's some kind of limit on prices in 23 that doesn't make getting these cards impossible. Having a lot of cards attainable only through BR and Events is really unfair if you don't play them that much or at all. The rewards should be attainable no matter how you play, not just through one specific avenue.

Buy them earlier. All the Bronze, Silver, and Gold BR rewards were at or around quick sale value UNTIL Brett dropped.
If you invest in these cards early; they will practically pay for the others.
Before the Forever Event dropped, the Silver Mathews, Britton, etc were all under 100 stubs each.
If you bought 50 of them, even at 100 stubs each and sat on them until Brett came out, or even longer, you made a killing when you sold them off.

How do you know which ones are going to go up in value? Or do you just keep them all?
I'd say half of the earlier program cards go for 5k or less, while the other half are 200k and higher.
I plan to save cards as well, but I also want to buy up the ones that will go up in value.
Thoughts?

The earlier program ones normally go up, when the first collection is announced, and crash once the Forever Program is released.
Typically anything that can't be earned by packs, or are in limited pack, are worth stocking. So I'd they do the programs the same in 23 as they did with 22; anything you can earn in the reward path of a program, that can be bought, should be stockpiled if you can afford to do it.
The Bronze, Silver, and Gold BR cards are usually at a premium until they start showing back up in rewind packs. Same for any BR Diamond reward and any Event rewards.

Makes sense. Thank you

I'm trying to get Mantle about 10+ away for Finest and 5 2nd half heroes. I am still working on some of the other programs like Finest and so that is another 2 and I need 2 steals to get Miggy. I'm just going to try and get the rest playing the event. I cant compete with the WS guys and BR I am terrible at.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I think all cards should be pullable from packs.

That assumes you want to play the market. I don't like to and didn't much last year. Why should playing the market be necessary?

Has nothing to do with playing the market; so to speak. Early in the game's cycle Bronze and Silver cards, other than LS players, are diet cheap. Yes, you have to sit on the until the first big collection, or a later one, drops; but that's not necessarily playing the market.
And it doesn't have to be done. Get the cards early and you won't have to pony up outrageous stubs later in the year.

I am 2 Finest cards away from Mantle. I still have to finished the finest program to get Carter and then win 3 more event games to get some the last one unless I put in a order
