Anyone think the game will be out before opening day?
-
I took a 4-day weekend when MLB:TS 22 was released last year. Most of that weekend was spent fighting the servers and unsuccessfully trying to load Mini Seasons. I think I’ll keep my personal days this year.
-
Common sense would say yes. Buy this is SDS we're dealing with, so who the F knows.
-
With the world baseball classic it should….but again like previously stated this is SDS

There still needs to be a cover athlete naming for '23, so don't hold your breath.
Kindly pull up your pants that are around your ankles, and show some patience, lol.
Friday March 30th looks nice. Hopefully we get it then.Sorry, just ready for this new game!! 22 got very boring very fast.
As far as the cover athlete goes, I think it’s either gonna be J-Rod, or they’ll do something for the WBC and we’ll get a special USA cover with Bobby Witt Jr. or maybe even a guy like Mookie

Cover Athlete will be words.
Unhandled Server Error

Safe to say that the latest the game will release is Opening Day Weekend but if I had to venture a guess I feel like at the latest it releases on Tuesday March 28th (or Friday March 24th if they do an Early Release for special editions like they have done on occasion)... wishful thinking on my part the game comes out 3 weeks earlier on Tuesday March 7th (or Friday March 3rd).

I like the Julio Rodriguez pick more and more each day... if they bring back the Cover Athlete Program though I want them to make sure they get David Wright... I was most definitely disappointed not to see him in the program... I want to say he was missing (MLB 07 The Show) and Yasiel Puig (MLB 15 The Show) was missing, and for the fun of it I would've included the international covers as well for Jose Bautista (Canada) and I forget who was on the Taiwan cover and I believe there were a few others over the years.

Not sure when/if they'll be able to get the rights to the WBC to include it in the game so I don't think the WBC will play into when the game releases... I feel like we could go back to the game coming out in Early March but at the latest I feel like it'll come out the Tuesday before the season starts.

Do you think 23 will be any different? It's pretty much the same year after year. The aspects they could work on like franchise and road to the show that coukd make game more interesting, SDS refuses to improve. At least the art department will be busy with their cards

In my opinion when sports game release like this there is little to no chance that the game would have a complete overhaul year over year... no matter how you slice it these games and pretty much any game really that has multiple releases will be the same year over year with the hope that they are able to bring something new to the table to set it apart from previous releases by adding a new feature or a new function of some kind... I imagine we'll start finding out in 3 to 4 weeks like the cover athlete, release date, preorder info (what we get in 23 as well as what we get in 22 as they usually will give a card for cover athlete or stubs or packs for current game when you preorder the next game), an alpha or beta demo signup info and window to play, stream schedule leading into release, etc.

So basically what you're saying is outside of DD, whatever you get is a [censored] shoot. And to me DD is just the same thing every year with different artwork.
It's just the nature of things I suppose. I don't have a lot of high expectations

What I'm saying is these engines are expensive to pay for/create... these programmers (sports games or otherwise) aren't going to keep creating new engines from year to year... for as much negative feedback that the lot of these games get online there are a ton more people that are satisfied with these games for the most part which shows in these companies bottomlines... so yeah same engine and we might get a new feature or two (like a new game mode or a tweak to a current game mode). The hope is that from year to year these developers are able to improve upon an area that the public feels is lacking... granted I haven't ventured into H2H this year given that I have rarely had PS Plus since getting back online and far as I can tell H2H is where most of the complaints come from with these games... long story short I'll fork over the $100-$150 for another year and see how going back to multiplayer works out.

Being locked into a one year cycle is a real disadvantage for game developers. But it seems like they should be able to recognize when they have a good product and just leave it alone. For example, most people seem to like the hitting engine for 20. Why did they feel the need to even change it? Granted there will be some who complain about it but I don't think it was as bad as this one is.
The only reason I got 22 is because they said they had better trade logic in franchise, which honestly turned out to be not true in my opinion.

I can think of at least one reason:

Game might not be different, but it’ll be fun to go after the chase of the MLB collection and the new programs.

Well MLB owns the WBC. But I was talking baseball starts early this year so they should get it out ahead of that. But again. SDS

Agreed, and I'm not pre ordering this year.

I just acquired O’Neill Cruz for Eleisar Hernández and Erik Gonzales so, can confirm.

I can't speak to the engine as I left online play due to circumstances at some point in 2019 and haven't fully returned to H2H as I haven't committed to PlayStation Plus just yet... going to wait for 23 to come out and get a year subscription and see how it goes.
If they stuck with how 20 was they most likely would have been slandered like most sports games and similar games that have multiple releases are as simply being copy and paste with a roster update. Also from what I noticed the developers never know how a game is going to play until it gets out into the wild
