Hitting timing

Why am I sometimes early on a 100 + mph fastball and then late consistently on 85 mph offspeed pitches , doesn't make sense .

Because your swings aren't linear, you are human and your swings aren't robotic. Are you saying it's impossible for that to happen?

No I think op is alluding to the timing windows feeling inconsistent and the visual perception of certain pitches feeling off in different areas of the zone

Maybe, but I don't understand the thought process, why does his comment up there not make sense? Is it physically impossible to do both in one game?

You definitely make a valid point

I wondered the other day if opponent success in pitching (how good they hit the marks in analog, pinpoint or whatever) affects the timing windows for the hitter. Feels like it sometimes.
Playing a game, I couldn’t time up Logan Webb, which wouldn’t usually happen.

I don't know. Taking into account that I am probably the worst batter in the game, sometimes when I see a change-up, I wait too long and am late on it.

Swinging in this game is like stiring a spoon in thick pudding.
