How about fixing pitching? The randomness of pitching has made things even worse. Go back and play MLB 17 or even 18 and see how many times you hit your spot and the pitch goes middle middle or hangs up a ton when you’re throwing below the zone. Hitting will always be somewhat random, but pitching should be 100% user input based as far as pitches going to the location you’re throwing to.
Truth ... Pitching in 19 is a step back from 18, random meatballs even with perfect placement is annoying... 18 that didn’t happen..
It definitely happened in 18 as well, just not as much regularity as 19
Rarely in 18, maybe when your pitcher starts getting tired ... I play mainly offline franchise in 18, it’s been solid in regards to pitching, I also play offline franchise in 19, and man it happens a lot, frustratingly ...

In 18 it felt like it happened more with change ups to me. This year I feel like sliders, cutters, and curveballs hang the most. I RARELY throw curveballs this year. I think I threw 3 or 4 in a game last night when I couldn't get the guy out. All of them stayed up, but fortunately he wasn't ready for any and whiffed at all of them bad.

Yeah, only in this game can a curveball up be an effective pitch.

To be fair, when I say up, I mean they were in the zone. Still stayed on below the middle.

I understand. I still have a hard time dealing with those top of the zone sliders, inside or out. I don’t think anyone would throw that pitch on purpose in an actual game, although I admit I’ve seen Cole or Strasburg throw the odd high front door deuce.
-
Wait....did you say randomization of hitting is the games only flaw?
Idk if I should be saddened or just shocked.... -

One of the most effective pitches I've ever seen was when Chris Archer was doing well on the Rays. He was never able to locate well but his pitches had so much movement it would make guys look stupid. His slider, when it was thrown for a strike and then mixed with his fastball would have guys so flustered and then he'd throw a slider that hang up at the top of the zone and a lot of the time stayed in too. Guys would flail at it constantly, but he was never throwing it there on purpose.

Yeah, I've lost A LOT of games to a perfect pitches completely missing their spot: how do we account for doing everything right and RNG taking over?
- Baseball has more chance elements than other sports
- Player ratings impact outcomes in conjunction with user input
- Pitchers missing spots isn’t always a function of mechanics.
- Pitch confidence is real. If you have low pitch confidence and you throw a pitch bad things happen. Regardless of player ratings and user input.
- There are elements of hitting that arent acuratwly captures in the hitting mechanic.
Here is my problem with this thought process though. If the players stats also determine if your good timing with the zone on the ball results in anything, then the players stats shouldn't effect how big the hitting zone actually is. You can't make the hitting zone smaller because their vision and/or contact is "low" and then not reward someone for a good timing and a zone on the ball because their contact/vision is "low."
You cant punish the hitter on both sides of the coin. Pick one or the other.

Great point.

Face it SDS doesn't care. There is no reason. A 100% pitch with a 0.00 or even a 0.02 release when you even have the par way off the plate should ever end up down the middle. There is no reason to reward someone for a very late hit when a perfect/perfect is a line out. Not even a good good fly out when your oppent has 7 hits with very late or early timing and is allowed to foul off pitches not even near the zone. SDS says stick skills rain supreme in the online settings, but it's not true. They DO NOT CARE! That's why they took oppent pci placement away in 22. So that people couldn't keep sending them videos and pictures of hits and found balls no where near the pci.
