Gotta love the fade away throws by the pitchers. Never miss first base. Those animations are ridiculous most of the time.
-
I actually had an inside the park home run with Troy Glaus because of a missed diving play. Probably the only one I’ve seen tho
-
I have one that defies logic. Back to the play, headlong head scratcher right near the in-field bullpen! I have a vid. If I find it.....
-
I like when I get thrown out by a player who fired a bullet to first while laying down.
-
While it is not common I have definitely seen cpu players dive and the ball pop out of their glove, even in the outfield.
-
I see it mostly in showdowns/missions. Although, the most common thing I've experienced this year is the number of hits/outs deflected off the pitcher's skull/spine/foot. These guys are super troopers fighting through multiple facial contusions and severe concussions after taking a 111 mph exit velocity liner to the face. And they say this ain't a contact sport....HA

It's better than it used to be. At least the ball will ricochet and you will sometimes get on base. It used to be that the pitcher was just a soft wall. The ball would hit them and simply fall at their feet and it was a 100% guaranteed out.

The cpu success rate on spectacular diving catches against me is still 100% lol
I have come to the conclusion that every one of the 7 players behind the pitcher are Jedi Knights, and any ball that isn't magically hit directly into their glove they will simply make an extremely unrealistic diving/leaping grab to rip me off.
Also every pitcher is a relative of Wolverine of the X-Men. No matter how hard you hit them with the baseball, no matter where on their body they get hit, they not only are not injured, they quickly pick up the ball, throw me out and go the distance.
Working as intended.

The worst rip off for me was a couple months ago in conquest, I was playing the Dodgers in 2020 and hit a 114 MPH line drive that hit David Price in the top half (the really bony part) of his THROWING HAND.
What should have happened:
David Price rolling around on the ground clutching his shattered hand and contemplating life after baseball.
What SDS says should happen:
The ball simply dropped at his feet, he calmly picked up the ball, threw me out at first and pitched a complete game.
Working as intended.

I hit a perfect/early line drive to third. I thought it was going to be caught. It wasn't. He tapped it to the shortstop who caught it. It bounced off his glove and right to the shortstop, who was moving in that direction. Haven't seen that before. Wish I would have saved the replay.
-
My favorite is when I get thrown out at second with a runner who has 80 speed on a ball into the outfield corner that gets to the wall.
-
You can add to all this that the game is very often a lineout simulator.
SDS really needs to diversify how outs are made because "Line drive...CAUGHT!" has gotten ridiculous. Fielders are magnets, and making it worse is that the character models are too big for the field.
Oh well...
