Took me about 10 times to beat the Finest Showdown. Kept losing to Wheeler. Finally survived him and got beat by Maddux. Redid it and finally got thru it.

The secret was drafting one of the greatest MLB THE SHOW cards in history : Charlie Blackmon Finest MLB the show 17.

He hit a walk off HR against Wheeler for me and followed up with a walk off Hr against Maddux next game.

Gagne was easy to defeat as you only need one run with I think 20 outs.

I must say it was a very fun experience.

The OP is referring to the Finest Showdown that is in the Other Program section. Not the current timed program.

With all of the great cards that you can get, I felt that this Showdown was pretty easy. You just have to be patient and wait for a good pitch, especially on guys like Lynn who love to throw slow stuff down around your ankles.

DJ Lemahieu was money for me, as was Charlie Blackmon. Blackmon stole a base or 2 for me as well!
Was nice to use 99 Mantle, who I'll never get 🤪
99 Carter hit a walk off bomb off Gagne to conquer Showdown.
Just a bit of pressure, but in the end it was easy.
I can't stress enough that speed is important. Some Commons will have 80-90 speed.

Oh okay, I saw the Finest showdown in there last night but was unaware that it was connected to the program as I have been focused on the main Finest program… an oversight on my part.

OMG. I might have lost it if that happened!
I can't stress enough to keep low Commons with speed on your bench to avoid those double plays that the A.I. just loves to set you up in. This time around, my guys were 77, 75, 74, 72 speed. In past showdowns, i had a few 85-90+ speed guys. Stealing second saved a lot of issues throughout.
