So disappointed in Ohtani’s card!
-
First of all, I suuuuck at online play. Some days I feel like I can make a WS run, most days I can’t hit water from a boat.
When the new Ohtani collection dropped, I was really excited and assumed he’d be and end-game card. After 11 starts I have him at 2-9 with a 9+ ERA, lol!! I’m batting .077 with him too. His splitter gets whacked and his slider has very little break. His fastball is nasty, but that’s about it.
I thought it was just me, because like I said…I suck in online games. Then I faced him in an event game. I got 5 hits with 3-HRs in the 2-innings my opponents used him. So if I can hit him, the card must suck, lol.
Also, no sinker and no ability to use him in the outfield or as a pinch hitter is a huge L, IMO. I mean, he’s not new to the league and he’s always been a 2-way player. C’mon SDS!!
Anyone else have similar experience with Ohtani??

One thing I noticed with his card when I was using his LS at the beginning of the season is that his delivery motion is very up and down with his release is straight over the top. I feel like this leads to his pitches breaking less. I also find him very easy to pick up his pitches. And I stink at h2h. I still think he is a very good card. I love using him in the 3 spot in the lineup when he pitches. Versus an inferior opponent you will dominate with him. His pitch mix allows you to pitch out of the zone. However, as the player base dwindles the only guys left playing are die hards that are good in ranked and events. We also have guys who have or almost have 125s accross the hitting attributes. So I think all of these new pitchers, Degrom, Burnes, Kershaw and just going to get lit up and it is more about juiced lineups and opponents skill than anything the pitcher is doing wrong.

I’m 2-0 with a 1.85 ERA, it does suck you can’t use him as an OF. The slider #1 pitch isn’t great but I’ve learned to throw it more when it’s a fast ball out works 60% if the time all the time. It’s about pitch mix. Again he’s not the best pitcher in the game but he’s definitely usable

2-0 with a 4.00 ERA, but they’re all solo shots. I do feel he does give up some homers but if you can tunnel the slider, FB and splitter well (and not hang the splitter) he’s very effective.

Him and deGrom are my best pitchers in HOF right now in Ranked Seasons. Its a drop to my other starting pitchers that I am trying to P5.

His fastball and cutter play off each other, keep the slider down and outside corner, and a 59 1/2 ft curveball in the dirt. He's a HR machine at the plate.

Got destroyed the only time I used him online. Wasn't impressed. I'll try him again eventually.
