    I get it.

I’m old. Can’t hit. Fine. Still, really enjoy the game. Even though the hitting engine really needs to be changed but won’t because you can’t satisfy casuals and die hards. I get that.

But… I’m like…tired of the nonsense online. Call me old. Past it. Out of touch.

I just played a guy who had a GREAT eye. Refused to bite on cutters in. Kudos to him.

But 1.5 batters in…after check swinging and getting a ball call on 4 straight pitches…proceeds to call time to…I guess…”flex?” To…you know… rub it in that he had a good eye??

Clearly I’m in complaint mode, but man… It would be good to just be able and play with normal, functioning human beings. Man…

Like…”I’m an adult and just want to play the game mode.” No calling time because you took a pitch. No bunt dancing after a HR. Just…you know… normal…I’m not nuts human behavior…

I’m 61 and played beginner and Franchise mode from 2008-2020. Admittedly, from 2008-2016 I only played a couple of hours a month. When I retired, my hours picked up, but I still played beginner and Franchise. Then I jumped in with some guys who taught me how to push myself, be better, and try new aspects of the game, like DD.

To make this long dribble short, try something new. If online play frustrates you, go offline. If the level you are playing is too frustrating, knock it down a level until you get comfortable, and then bump up the difficulty and push yourself.

Frankly, I suck online, but I’m better than I used to be.

Also, see if you can get into a league Discord group with some guys that will help you tune your skills. You can PM me and I'll do what I can to help too.

There are guys in here that say age has nothing to do with how well you play, but I don’t agree with them. I know it does…except for one guy…he’s older than me and plays like he’s 21. You know who you are 😏😂😉

I'm another "old" guy. I play this game for entertainment. I play strictly offline because I don't want to deal with that [censored].

I've never played Franchise before, even though I've played this game since MLB 2015. I started messing around with it a bit yesterday. It could be an option once there's no new content for DD.

I'm 52 years old myself & began playing Baseball Video games going back all the way to the days of Atari, Intellivision & ColecoVision. MLBTS is a totally different beast all in itself with being so way more advanced & different then all other baseball video games before. Even so much more advanced than the 2K games on Xbox 360 which was the last baseball video game in existance while MLBTS was starting its run & improving so much more in its game play.

What I mean by game play is how you as the player plays tbe game & how actions are executed via the controller. This is where it becomes so much harder for guys my age to play this game well online & be competitive with most other online players. The old saying "you can not teach an old dog new tricks" falls so true & real. Anything other than Directional Hitting or Classic pitching is way to advanced for me to get used to & executing well. However those ranging from teens to into their 30's can due to so many other video games played which requires a certian controller skill set in order to execute actions correctly & effectively. Those players will always have an advantage over players of my age that are not into & has not played many of these other games which provides honing in all those controllers skills which makes it easier to apply within tbe controller dynamics of MLBTS.

I really do enjoy DD in MLBTS, I enjoy tbe card collecting aspects & the programs & playing with the team I create. For most part I do as much as I can with it offline with Conquest, Mini, RTS, MTO, vs CPU, Moments & Showdowns. However the only way to get certian cards is if you only play Ranked, Events or BR or to simply be willing to buy them in the market "IF" you have the stubs. Therefore players like me will always be disadvantaged in that aspect. However it is what it is. I am not compliaining about this. Just sharing insight & prospective.

Try pulse pitching. It's really nothing more than aiming and timing when you punch the button.

Also, I used Directional until this year. Sure, I tried Zone now and then but I was miserably bad at it. I decided that I would commit to Zone this year, and I can finally say that I like it better than Directional now. One of the things that helped me was to change my batting view to Strikezone 2 (thanks @TEXAS10PT_PSN, @OreoRockstar_PSN, and @vinnis1_PSN!).

Next year, I'm going to focus on PinPoint. I don't know if I'll get it, but I'm sure going to try.

One of the things I liked about Franchise is that I could create players and sign them to my team. I would import that team into the new version each year (I waited until the price dropped to $10 and then bought it...until 2021). My team was superheroes and all 99s (Peter Parker, Clark Kent, etc.). Now, you can't import teams from previous versions, so I stopped playing it, plus, DD has really been a blast for me...I really enjoy chasing cards and challenging myself to complete the programs.

I'm 58. I only play offline because I have no desire to put up with other players potential BS, even if it happens rarely. Plus I have no need or want to prove myself any better or worse than another player.

And just as a data point I use meter pitching and zone hitting, usually on veteran difficulty, although I can do okay on All-Star if needed.

I have not tried much franchise at all over the years as I have been one who always said that if I want to play franchise that I will play Out of the Park. I buy that game very year and rarely get very deep into a franchise
