If you don't quit before your 8th batter. If someone is getting stomped and wants to move on, and they do so before their 8th AB, then they get nothing.
Also if you're getting stomped and the Mercy Rule kicks in, before your 8th AB, then you're SOL.
They need to get rid of the 8 bat minimum rule. Who cares if someone wants to 'hit and quit' in the first inning.

Mercy Rule doesn't kick in until the 5th. The rule is just fines as it is. You get no PXP if you quit a BR or event game and Rookie CPU you would get your 8ABs by the 2nd anyway

Events can get really frustrating, because you get nothing if you lose a game. In Battle Royale, you can still earn things from playing with the cards or achieving missions that can advance you in the game, even if you lose. In Ranked Seasons, as long as you play the innings, you can get a head. But in Events, it's either Win or Lose, with nothing gained from a Loss. This is why when there's a freeze, no one is willing to quit. What the game should do is award something like 3 points for a win and 1 point for a loss so that both players get something out of the match regardless. This minor change would seem to limit a lot of hard feelings and poor behavior that I encounter when playing Events games.
This Isn't hockey.

I was trying for the last 40 PXP to finish off Gold Alcantara and started him in a BR game when he was in the yellow. I didn't make it through the 1st inning because my opponent smacked him around and put up 7 runs. Game ended due to Mercy in the top of the 1st with only one out.
Mercy Rule may kick in for RS around the 5th; but I've seen it kick in earlier during BR and Events if it's done early enough.
I didn't get ANY PXP for that outing. That's why they shouldn't have an 8 bat minimum. If someone is getting shelled and wants to move on to another game: why should they be punished.

Starting a pitcher in the yellow can not end well.

You all make some good points, especially how the game can be manipulated if you just quit and get the point (although an easy fix would be you don't get the point if you quit).

Unless you walked a bunch of batters in a row or hit him in frustration 5 times, there is no possible way you got mercy ruled in a BR game. Mercy rules don't exist anywhere but Ranked
I have put up 20 runs in one inning in both of those modes when opponents go AFK and not once gotten a mercy rule
-
Can confirm. I don’t think mercy rule exists in BR.

Same, I’ve had people walk away and I don’t know the exact number but it was definitely double digit runs. Funniest thing was one time the guy actually came back after about 10 minutes and finished the game. I also don’t see how the game would end with a mercy rule before you even got an at bat.
