I've never conformed to the idea that you meed to support what ever team is the closest. I live dead in Cleveland fan territory and the Tigers are my baseball team, the Philly Eagles my football team, Ohio State college football and Dayton college basketball. I hate the NBA and have been trying to get more into Hockey but it really doesn't matter. Support whatever teams you feel like

I live in PA, near Pittsburgh, but I am a Cowboys, Red Sox, and Lightning fan.

I'm a believer that you stick with your team, even if you don't live in the area. I lived in CA for 17 years but remained a Cardinals fan throughout that time. The internet and streaming services make it easy to keep up with a non-local team.

Yeah, stay with the Nats. Austin is far enough away from Houston and Dallas that’s it’s not like you are going to be a season ticket holder. Just plan your trips to those venues when the Nats are in town and pick up mlb tv account so you can watch their games on tv

I live in Toronto and I despise the Maple Leafs and the NHL in general, I am a Panthers, West Virgina, Blue Jays and Pirates fan.
Welcome to Fandom where everything's made up and the points don't matter.

I am now preparing to relocate to austin texas this year and don’t really know what to do for fandom.
I moved from the eastern time zone, to Los Angeles, about 25 years ago. I had no intention of rooting for any team other than my Reds. However, listening to the great Vin Scully every day on the radio and going to Dodger Stadium each summer lured me to that fan base. While I will always love the Reds, the Dodgers are the team I have followed and supported for the last 15-20 years or so.

Real life: I’ve been in dc for 12 years and got back into baseball when I moved so have followed the nats in that whole time. I am now preparing to relocate to austin texas this year and don’t really know what to do for fandom.
Even though the only WS pieces still around are strausburg and Dave Martinez…..there are a lot of young prospects and potentially bright future building them up.
However, I won’t be in the area, so no going to games and being part of the community.
Further, Austin is a football town and not immediately affiliated with rangers or Astros. So the question is:
What would you do: continue to rep nats fully, start following rangers or Astros, or wild card: learn and become a fan of cricket.
It's 2022, you can watch/follow each Nats game if you really want to. I'm not sure why you'd abandon that fandom.

A's fan here. Haven't lived in CA since right before our WS win in 89. Still a fan.
If they leave the area to Vegas however, I don't know what I'll do...
I'm a believer in teams need to stay true to their fans as well as the reverse. -

I'm a believer in teams need to stay true to their fans as well as the reverse.I'm hoping they come to Sacramento. Rename them the California Athletics since the Angels abandoned that name. Then I might begin to follow them also.
I am warming up to the Sacramento Rivercats, but I can't say I'm a fan yet.

WVU, I went to school 45 mins from there and I worked as the CVC staff for a number of games

Live in Houston and root for the Giants and Astros but I first started following the Reds when Pete Rose was a rookie. All the way through the Big Red Machine days.

First of all, Welcome to Texas! Austin is definitely a football first town but there us such a mix of people from all over you won't be the only Nats fan. Just keep rocking the Nats gear. We're pretty cool about everyone's fandom so do your thing.
