Let's take a break from Extreme for some POTM speculation.

I couldnt help to notice the other day while grinding away. LS Albert Pujols and his 0 speed and 6 stealing. Then saw Tyler O'Neill and his 95 speed and 5 steal. Which means Pujols with 95 less speed is more likely to take off and steal a bag than O'Neil lol.

So here is my prediction.
99 Lightning - Mookie Betts
98 henchman
Arenado
Zac Gallen
Bregman95-96? Henchman
deGrom
Nate Lowe
Julio Urias
Randy Arozarena
Felix BautistaIf Arenado gets a card (which unfortunately I have a sneaking suspicion he won't) and it is not the lightning in favor of Betts then it is a travesty.
Betts appeared in only 3 of the offensive categories I listed above and in all three he finished behind Arenado.
I don’t disagree. Again either one I’m ok with. I’m just saying there has been 3 3B plus the Donaldson plus the Brett. But we only have to wait 8 days to find out lol

Quick question. I don't mean to sound snarky but I'm genuinely curious. What does it matter if every Lightning card is the same position? As long as they release well rounded cards for bosses, headliners, events etc I don't really see why they have to vary. Are people planning to only use lightning cards on their squad? Just make sure that other 9s

I don't think it does. This line of reasoning I have only seen from players and not SDS.
Players that have been passed over, most notably Goldschmidt after Rizzo got the POTM card was passed over for other reasons, mainly that he was already already a diamond and they planned a DB card for him in the first always intense pack.

you ignored pitchers....arenado and bregman won't get the lighting card bc of Riley. Id actually think a pitcher may get the nod this month
-
Im going with Zac Gellen

The problem is if they get passed over could also be because
- They just decided it was time for a pitcher
- There are plans for them, especially Arenado, to have boosted cards later
You can tell yourself it is because Riley had the lightning card last month but there is no confirmation that it is the actual reason. None of us actually know for sure.

Again, not trying to be snarky, but why does that matter? Previous months should have no bearing on the next award. There are Cards from every position being released every week. Having 3 or 4 or 6 lightning 3rd basemen doesn't effect anything unless somebody just really needs to have all lightning cards in their lineup at one time. Again, I don't mean this to come off snarky towards you because you're probably right, they will make their decision with that in mind. But they shouldn't have to.

fair point, but they do seem to have some sort of pattern regarding positions (regardless if we can figure it out or not lol)

You could very well be on to something. SDS is probably ready to put that 99 deGrom out there with outlier lol. I’d rather have Betts or Arenado

You are right, they do seem to take those things into account. And in an ideal situation it would be a different player at a different position on a different team to really diversify. But personally I think this is a great chance to give Arenado his 99 and juice it like they usually do.

I think Arenado wins the Actual NL player of the Month. Probably Bregman for AL.
It was a pretty safe bet but that is indeed the two players who won MLB POTM awards for August.
