How many are skipping/delaying 23?
-
Just curious how many people are seriously leaning towards skipping or delaying their purchase of MLB 23? As someone that is admittedly not great at the game despite playing a good amount I’m putting myself firmly in the camp of skipping 23 unless some major overhauls occur. The gameplay is stagnant and very inconsistent. The content is solid but very repetitive. Every card should at the very least be sellable because if someone isn’t good enough to earn the top tier cards they should still be able to get them by either flipping or putting real money into the game. The upcoming extreme program is frustrating because I already know I won’t be good enough to earn most of the rewards, they won’t be sellable, and considering one of my goals is to try to get every card in the game that pretty much seals that deal. I’m not ranting just saying the return of the extreme program is far more likely to drive off many current players than provide a positive gameplay experience. Even most of the good players described completing the extreme program in mlb 20 as arduous and not worth the effort.

Extreme program is challenging. I did it all but some of the moment...those were too hard for me. I think one was 4 HR or 4 XBH in one game with Yelich or something like that. I may take a year off unless they adjust the hitting engine and address the foul tip fest.

As someone who skipped 22 I understand. After returning from a very long absence from gaming I am not the same player I was. I am competitive against the CPU, but struggle against online players, and it seems like SDS rewards cheesers and freezers. I still have some stuff to do on 20 and 21 anyway, so until I complete that there is no rush to get what seems to me from what I have seen online as a $70.00 roster update.

I don't think anyone can say that with any confidence. It's really easy to say that now when your frustrated, but the real test is when they start hyping the new game

I only play RttS and franchise. I did enough DD to get gear for my RttS player and it was cool. But DD isn't something I'm going to spend a whole bunch of time grinding through because it's just the same stuff over and over, and I just can't bring myself to care about it.
Since I'm pretty confident that SDS isn't going to make any kind of improvements to franchise or RttS, there's no reason for me to ever buy this game again. The only reason I even bought it this year was because I heard that it was supposed to have improved trade logic in franchise, which I'm not really seeing at all.

The game won't even get better with time, and I think it's time people stop expecting it every year. The game is what it is, and it plays like garbage, but it's still fun. I'll continue to buy it because I enjoy it some of the time and it's the only baseball game worth playing. I do know I'll never pre-order this garbage ever again though. You don't even get to enjoy the early access because you spend most of the time getting booted from the servers and freezing until they patch it. So yeah, I guess it's a no to completely skipping.
-
If it's still on GamePass, I'll play it. Otherwise, I won't buy it.
-
I will skip, but that is because I skip every other year.
I like you am not happy to see the return of Extreme Program. Now I wish I had skipped 22 and not skipped 21. My goal is only to collect all Reds cards, and with Chapman, unless I can get him by just beating conquest Extreme, or if it's tied to grinding superfractor players. I won't get that goal done, because no way I will be able to beat Showdown Extreme, since I can't even best this last one, and moments Extreme is worse.

Wait and see. They did little to nothing with the game for 2 years because they were "expanding their base." Now that they have their hands in all consoles' pockets, there's no GOOD reason why 23 shouldn't have substantial upgrades.

They had all game consoles last year, so why did they basically give the community what basically amounts to a roster upgrade? I know there are only so many things you can do, but now that the lame excuse of "well we are trying to get set up for all consoles" is over they should start fixing the known issues.
Rewarding cheesers and freezers, the obvious game flaws and others too numerous to list here.

It will be 2023 they will still be using trash and terrible servers and the hitting engine will see no improvements. SDS suck we are still not able to choose uniforms for regular mlb team games and I don’t see it changing no excuses with nex gen hardware.

No they didn't. Switch was added this year.
I'm not even that concerned with cheesers and freezers. Improve the core game, for [censored]'s sake.

Me.
From now I will only buy games that are all about real skills. -
Not me. I’ll be getting it when it’s released
-
I already skipped 22, no plans at moment for 23
-
I'm not skipping 23 if it's on GamePass.
-
Haven’t missed a year yet so why stop now
-
Not dissing '23 but I'm thinking Starfield will take up most of the year for me.
I say this now but you know how that goes...

I've bought every single one since the 989 days. I'll be skipping 23 after this year's game. It's been on a steep decline since 19.
