I don't get mad at Showdown any more. But, that's mainly because I simply don't play them - unless, as stated above, they are mandatory for a program.
Conquest plays different than Showdown, which plays different than Mini Seasons, which plays different than Moments, which plays different than Events, which plays different than <insert game mode here>, even though all of them could be on the same Vet, AS or HOF level. I whole-heartedly loathe Moments, and Showdowns are like a pack of Moments and, well, no thanks. To each their own, though.
This is a big, underdiscussed issue. There is no consistency. Maybe it’s impossible. I don’t know. But the game plays different mode to mode and even game to game within the same mode. It plays differently from game to game, say, in BR.

As many have stated, this game is just too inconsistent and random to enjoy. Same team and same pitcher, some games you mash him, others you only get one hit.

On moments, as well as Showdown, I feel the sliders for CPU controlled defense is turned up to play like all players have 99 fielding.

The only real difference I notice in showdowns the fielders are all amazing. Just dont try to take the extra base because that guy with 77 arm and 68 acc will gun you. EVERYTIME.
-
I have completed some of the showdowns. They definitely seem easier than they have ever been. I think I tried three times to beat the NL one and that may the most tries I have had to take on any of them that I have done.
But I do agree that the fielders are a little too good in that mode.
-
It's like everything else in this game... zero consistency. I can play a conquest game on all-star and score 5-10 runs easily and then go play a Showdown on rookie and watch perfect/perfect balls go for routine outs. The difficulty settings mean absolutely nothing in any mode. I should add I do like showdown... I know most don't... but I do, because it's something different than 3 inning games and moments to grind XP for programs.

I did the NL one today and against Alcantara, I had two of those liners to first, tag them runner double plays. It was unreal. Still managed to win, but seriously???

How could I ever forget the convienient double plays EXACTLY when they need them

I am a fan of showdown. Gotta draft smart and set up lineup for challenge. Helps to have speed on your bench. I beat NL in one try tonight. I'm kind of a big deal!

Try Exit velocity perks. Also I like vision bonus for when you get behind in the count.
This is correct. All exit velo are necissary. Contact and vision are secondary. Also dont pick the 7th inning or later perks since there is no 7th inning lol
-
Exit velocity perks, power on all of your starters and speed on the bench for pinch running. Look at the pitcher that you're going to be facing and set your lineup accordingly.

The 7th inning ones are active in the boss battles, and are among the best perks

Why does the ball die like it does in showdown?
mate build your team with no regard for position - so just only power hitters except a normal catcher ok
then only use Exit Velocity perks only
allow the CPU to throw as many pitches as possible - wait all the time until 2 strikes before swinging and hold it down there - you will tire the CPU out
this is a guaranteed W if you do it this way - hope it helps ya

Pitcher confidence.
This is one of my biggest issues with the game they always have way too much confidence for no reason. That and outfielders standing at the warning track for every at bat.

The only guy I had a real problem with was Bednar. fML like no matter what I did it didn’t matter soft fly outs everywhere -

This... and the last 3 showdowns have been all boss battles, so basically activated throughout the entire run. I also like getting the exit velocity on normal swings diamond perk.
