It's a cool thing for two players that have had fantastic careers.
Letting the "fans" decide anything is laughable. That's what has ruined the All Star game.

There was a fairly good chance Miggy made the allstar team anyway. Evey team gets a representative. If it was my choice it would be voted on by players/coaches only. Giving Miggy and Pujols one last allstar game is much better than Braves fans voting Albies and Duvall into the game

They did it to for Gwynn and Ripken, and had that moment where Arod moved to third so that Ripken could start at short.

Pujols and Cabrera haven't gotten sh*t this year as far as "retirement tour". Atleast not compared to others like Mo and Jeter. Arguably the two best hitters of our generation, and two of the best in the history of the game deserve anything and everything they can get.

Pujols and Cabrera haven't gotten sh*t this year as far as "retirement tour". Atleast not compared to others like Mo and Jeter. Arguably the two best hitters of our generation, and two of the best in the history of the game deserve anything and everything they can get.

Come on, no love for baseball history and tradition. Obviously it's a symbolic move but these are two of the greats of the last 20 years. I'd go so far as to say Pujols is a top 10 hitter all time. I'm sure everyone will jump on and tell me how his last several years have been awful and blah blah blah.
Find me someone else with 600+ HRs, 3,000+ hits, 2,000+ RBIs and 650+ doubles. You can't.
His first 11 years are among the most dominant stretch by any hitter ever.
This is a cool sentiment and what all star games should be.

I agree. Just because you’re going to be in HOF and retiring does not mean you deserve to be in the all star game. It’s not a retirement party, let the players that are actually playing at an all star level in.
