If Longoria Has Gold Defense In The Field...
-
I could be wrong, but the card takes into account all the attributes (fielding, arm, acc, reaction), whereas the on field shield only counts the fielding attribute and ignores the others.
-
Fielding rating must be 90+ to show up in game so at parallel 2 he gets the upgrade
-
His fielding badge is gold, 88, his defense is diamond

Ah. Almost there.
He's my all time favorite DD card for sure although the Mini-Seasons reward one was a letdown.
His swing is just too good. -
Longoria is one of the most overrated players of all time.
Seriously, what has he ever done? -

Seriously, what has he ever done?I mean no one is calling the guy a hall of famer, but he is undoubtedly the best player in Tampa bay rays history and had a pretty nice career. I'm not sure where you get overrated from

Seriously, what has he ever done?he was a key piece that took the team to not only its first world series but deep into the playoffs a few years later.

Seriously, what has he ever done?57.6 career WAR and 41.9, 7-year peak WAR. There are hall of farmers with less career WAR than longoria. He was pretty good for a stretch.

Ah, WAR... The stat that says everything and nothing.
He was good for a few years, mediocre for the rest.
And he hit .050 in the '08 World Series. Not sure what his WAR was for that series.
Not busting your chops, but WAR is a nerd stat for numbers junkies.
I compare Longoria to Anthony Rizzo-- a nice player both, but nowhere near Superstar status. -
According to baseball reference he is 17th all-time in war for third baseman and he’s also 17th all time for war within a seven year period. Unless he’s got a couple good years in him I don’t see it happening. Scott Rolen is a 70 War and May get in next year (for reference)

My point was that Longoria was not a [censored]. People can't point to Trout as the best player in baseball citing 10 WAR seasons and negate that a 7 year span of 7 WAR a year is a pretty good stretch.

If Scott Rolen makes it into the HOF, they may as well let everyone in.
Great glove, no doubt. One of the top 5 all-time defensively.
But his bat was streaky, and for an offensive/power position? No way.
I watched his entire career, and he's not even top 25 at 3rd.
Maybe he cracks the top 50.Rolen and not Santo?
That would be criminal.

Santo is in the HOF. and Rolen not being top 25 at 3B in your eyes is comical. The only 2 players at 3B that aren't in the HOF that are better than Rolen are Arod and if you count Pete rose as a third baseman(and Beltre but he isn't eligible for voting yet)

My bad. Santo did finally get in.
Sorry, not sold on Rolen.
.281 BA, 316 HR's, 1,287 RBI over 16 years. That's an avg of 19 HR's per year, 80 RB
Really good career.
But he doesn't hit any of the traditional "recquired numbers" to get in (.300, 400-500 HR's).He will get in eventually.
If Phil Rizutto is there, Rolen should be.I admit bias because he was such a whiney girlie cry baby in Philly.

Also, you forgot Schmidt, Robinson, Chipper, Brett, Boggs, Santo, Areanado, Edgar, Beltre, Molitor, Eddie Matthews, you said Rose and A Rod.
So he probably cracks the top 15 if you don't include guys like Zimmerman, Longoria, Robin Ventura, Pie Traynor, Home Run Baker, and Caminiti.
I would take any of these guys over Rolen. -
Anyone know why his price has risen?
I got him for 71K a few weeks ago. -
