Stealing... Don't Do It
-
Tight game, down 3-1 in the 8th.
John Franco on the mound for my opponent, Luis Robert on 1st, Acuna at the plate.
I know he's going screwball, so with an extra step lead, I send Robert.79 mph screwball almost in the dirt... Robert gets gunned down by Gary Carter.
I could have beaten the throw and I'm 48 years old with a bad back.
Advice- don't steal.
And don't send the runner down 2 in the 8th regardless of your hunch. Was a good game, though.

Stealing (and speed in general) is kind of weird in this game. 90+ speed guys get gunned down constantly but a 40 speed guy can hit a 4 hopper in front of the plate and beat it out somehow.
Only time I try stealing is if the opponent is predictable in their timing and I think its going to be offspeed. I basically hammer L1 to get an extra 2 steps on my lead as he starts his delivery and usually thats enough to get a half decent jump and swipe 2nd. If I guess wrong and opponent stalls or something, I'm pretty much hosed.

One of my 90+ speed guys got gunned down on an 83 mph change up pitch and throw from LS Rutschman.
Come on, man.
A lot of times it's the lousy jump the runners get. -
Take a lead, hit the steal button, shorten lead. They seem to get a better jump that way. Sometimes I hit the button to take a lead just as you see the pitcher going home. But don't hold that button, as in online play, he keeps running and doesn't slide into the bag.

I might add, you might want to be ready to hit the R2 as sometimes if the pitcher throws over after you hit steal he's caught with his pants down.

Also don't put your runner at risk with the tying run at the plate.

How does this make sense? Way inside slider, catcher pauses before throwing to 2nd then throw's out a 93 speed trout.
Man, I just want this game to make sense sigh

MLBTS16 was (almost) great. However, the "bunt cheese" was a negative H2H issue. Cheesers would load their lineup with 90+ speedsters and bunt...get on base...steal...bunt, etc. Not fun. I think this is why SDS nerfed stealing (and bunting).

And there was absolutely ZERO hitting physics. No realism at all. It was fun, but wasnt anything close to baseball. They didnt change the hitting engine until 17 when the actually made the ball move off the bat.

I complained about stealing a few weeks ago. If you look at the leaderboards for lifetime, those stealing % are not look great. You would think people were only stealing with the LS Pujols card. SDS nerfed stealing too much this year.
