Stop leading off and I'll stop stepping off. The game already gives you one step by default.
Hahah I knew this would be first comment "stop leading off and I won't throw" literally knew this comment was coming. How about you throw 2 or 3 times and if you dont get me then the game goes on. In MLB I dont think it's even allowed for a pitcher to throw 30 straight times to first base cause the player took a 1 step leadoff extra. If you cant throw me out on the first 20 attempts then fuhk off and play the game.
It's players like you that make online games unbearable. You guys that sit there with their 99 speed CAP on 1st base and just think I'm going to be fine with you taking an extra step especially with that speed. I can step off 30 times or throw over 30 but you still feel obligated to take another step. What does that say about you?
I was actually "threatened" with being reported earlier because of this exact situation. Lol Pathetic.
Do what a real major league pitcher would do and do a pitch out and gun him out.
It's already hard enough to throw strikes on the corners, now you want me to waste a pitch hoping that that was the time you decided to steal? Gtfoh!
The real question is, why do you feel obligated to take the extra step with a fast guy? If he was big and slow you wouldn't take it would you? So why does speed lead you to an extra lead?
I can throw over 100 times and never get you out. So the game is already in the runner's favor. So just sit there and take the extra bag with your speed if you do hit it in the gap.
What SDS needs to do is take away the extra lead all together.
What SDS needs to do is change the way lead offs are done. We have some analog/pressure inputs, it's past time they're put to use. Hopefully next-gen will see a change.

Its realistic for a super speedy guy to take an extra step leadoff it's what they do. It's not realistic to throw to that base 30 times.
If a known speedster kept taking too big of a lead when I pitched on college I would throw over majority of the time. Nearly impossible to pick someone off in this game unless they are actually committed to stealing prior to throwing over. Problem is in this game you can snap throw as soon as they take a step or vary your move.
That said stealing is what it should be as long as they allow quick pitching with balks off.

I can't stand your thought process in this and I wish you nothing but failure in this regard. If you don't want the whole sequence of pick offs, just don't take the extra step. Basically you're saying let me get to second base for free if you don't get me after 2 attempts. And when a guy doesn't give it to you (which is 100% normal and understandable) you come over here crying about it. You're the problem, not him.

Love playing that game. I’ll step off as many times as you take a lead. Or I’ll just hold the ball for different amount of times with the pitcher. Love that game even more. Then there is also the slide step. So many options to pick from!!!
-
OP playing the way you do is lame. I’ll just step off all day against Cheesers like you.
-
I bet this guy tries to score from second on a routine grounder because he hopes you arent paying attention too.
He seems like that guy.

No, what’s realistic is the runner wouldn’t be taking that much of a lead after a couple throws. Your argument is absolutely terrible, and I hope you get picked off and thrown over at all game and every game.

Every year, month, week, someone comes on here to post about how they are entitled to take as big a lead and steal as many bases as they want. And every year, month, week, the community informs them that they are not.
-
This same guy wants to do this but complains about knuckleball cheese.
Is he the pot or kettle?

Just wants the world to revolve around him. “I never do anything wrong, but everyone is against me”
-
He thinks that just because he got someone fast on base that he’s entitled to steal the next one. Incredible.

I have Rickey & anger gunned all the time!

Stealing actually takes thought, I like that. You got to pick your chances. Sandberg has stolen 28 bases in 29 attempts.
This. People think they can and should run in any situation and any count. To be really successful at it, you have to read tendencies, use the count to your advantage. Then OP wouldn’t need to feel like taking a lead.

The lack of logic here is incredible. You're entitled to take an extra step as many times as you want, but your opponent can only try and stop you 2-3 times? Have you ever heard of "cause and effect"? They can do whatever they want, just like you can continue to create the situation which causes the reaction.
You don't even need the extra step to steal a bag since it's all a dice roll anyway. Last year I had an opponent steal 2nd with Pablo Sandoval with no additional lead (38 speed and 10 stealing) because the game decided it was his turn to get a stolen base. Meanwhile 99 Ricky Henderson with an extra step and the pitcher NOT slide stepping was getting hosed at 2nd. tHaT's JuSt BaSeBaLl...
You should take your own advice and "play the game" instead of whining about it to a forum full of people that think you're acting like a fool.

I think stealing needs a buff. It's not realistic that the pitcher can throw to first base 30 straight times because I took a one step leadoff. Pitchers should lose stamina or confidence which I thought in previous years was the case. I also believe in previous years you could only throw a pickoff around 3 times max in one plate appearance. What is this 30 pickoffs in one plate appearance just cause I want to take 1 step lead off. On top of the pickoff cheese even if I have a 1 step leadoff with 99 speed mondesi I get gunned out because with a quick pitch and a throw in the green with button accuracy is all you need to throw anyone out stealing.
I'm not just complaining that I cant steal bases, I also gun people out at an alarming rate. I dont remember last time somebody stole a base on me cause I get that perfect green throw almost every time and it's an automatic out.
Also I put good players in the title because yes, stealing is still easy vs players who are lost in the sauce and cant time their button accuracy throws or quick pitch with a speedy guy on base.
How about the fact that we aren't in the 80s or 90s anymore. This isn't the Cards with Willie McGee, Vince Coleman and Ozzie Smith. Stolen bases aren't a huge part of the game anymore, seeing 20 or 30 is rare enough and you want one every time you get a speedy guy OB, gtfoh. Baserunning in general is broken, but you want to exploit it the ONLY time I will try an extended lead is at 2B with 2 outs to get a slightly better chance of scoring on that 2 out hit. If I attempt to steal, I'm using a regular lead because the fact is that lead is enough guys with good stealing attributes will do just fine, pretty sure Shane Victorino isn't quite a burner, 76 speed and 74 stealing, but very successful.
-
I bet he bunted to get on too, probably with Mondesi
-
I bet he turns around and tries to go back to first if he thinks you have him.

Dave Roberts kept taking his lead. He even stole on the first pitch after 3 straight pickoff attempts.

If you think IRL situations is evidence enough to be entitled to take an extra step in a video game, feel free. Have fun wasting hours of your life watching a dude step off the mound. You know what you're getting yourself into, don't come here crying about it.

I was specifically referring to the post saying it isnt realistic to continue to take the same lead after pickoff throws. It happens.
