I know it's been touched on here in another post about this issue being a challenge while on defense. My issue is that they work too fast for sometimes for any chance to steal. And I get that some pitchers might work a lot faster than others do, but runners are going to adjust in real life. I should be half into my last lead off step when the pitcher starts their motion.

You don't want to steal believe me. If you do and succeed you will get a minus in stealing. I already did a bug report

You get minus for a bad jump. If you got a minus it is because of that.

You can get a plus for stealing and still get thrown out if you get a good jump (like with a super slow runner). The plus/minus for stealing is strictly for how good of a jump you got.

I love it when you're mashing on the dpad to get your pitcher out, and the CPU still picks a pitch before

I figured out to steal. From the second you're off the base, hold the left joystick left (and slightly down if you're as paranoid as me about it switching to up/down). Once you finish your lead animation, STILL HOLDING LEFT, take another step. I swear last year you couldn't do it like this. Then, still holding that joystick left, go on first motion. If it's a pickoff move and you did attempt to go, HOLD THE LEFT JOYSTICK DOWN, so your guy doesn't run off the base like mine did. Because for some reason it will get back, but that green arrow indicated you are advancing will be lit up, so hold down to avoid any [censored] like that. With all that said, it is still fairly hard to accomplish. I happen to have 111 speed, however.

The last few years, I have always held down on the left joystick while taking a lead (never get picked off). When stealing, I learned to watch the catcher...when he moves, I yank up on the joystick for a perfect or great jump every time!

I've never thought to look at the catcher... because that wouldn't work in real life, lol. I thought last year's version cancelled your extra steps though. Maybe I just didn't know I was doing, or using just buttons or something.
