I know the geniuses at SDS like to control the market even if the players are outperforming what they list for attributes, but I see players like Machado who get cheated out of stats, or someone like Betts who is getting hot but may hold in the mid 80s because thats what THEY want.

Its like they are waiting for a current 90 to drop in performance so they can move up another 90 waiting in que like Manny.

Edit: I meant LS 90s in circulation

They're not controlling the market, that's not their goal, they're keeping excitement high as higher overalls trickle out over the weeks and months. They can't have a ton of base 95 cards and then release legend 92s. And they also can't release legend 99s right away. Literally every other game that has a mode like this does the same thing. That's why in normal, offline rosters you'll see tons of 99s and 98s and 97s etc, but in DD or Ultimate team or whatever the base series is capped at 95 or whatever and there's very few 90s at all. It just stands out more in the show because of the stupid roster updates which they shouldn't even bother with. They're not trying to have the "live" roster actually match real life performance, they're just making tweaks based on real life performance.

I'm not saying this is good, I think the whole roster update thing is totally pointless. But my point is they aren't sitting there worried about the market, they're trying to make sure that the 92s and 93s they are currently dropping are the best cards in the game.

Has nothing to do with controlling the market. Has everything to do with Manny and Mookie ALREADY having top-level cards. Once you get that good, theres little you can do to be even better.

Correction I meant LS 90s, they control the stat upgrades so they control the market for LS

I'm sure they have some internal numbers/metrics to keep LS cards balanced in terms of # of high vs low diamonds or diamonds vs golds etc. But I think if the numbers are there (or not) they will up/down grade accordingly.

Sometimes early in the year, some of the stat adjustments are to probably correct over/under stated beginning of the year attributes.

But honestly, I dont know. Only people who know are the ones in that room who have those conversations.

I've been waiting for a Willie McGee MVP card for year. Give me that, Ted Simmons and Chris Carpenter and I'll be good for a while.

but I see players like Machado who get cheated out of stats

What has Manny been cheated out of. He started as an 87 and is now an 89.

With those updates he has lost

    6 pwr vs Righties
    5 Clutch
    4 vision

    He has gained
    25 contact vs lefties
    7 power vs lefties
    10 discipline
    13 contact vs righties

Prove to me that those minor downgrades are not accurate or warranted? So far this season he is averaging 1 HR every 20 ABs vs RHP. He is averaging 1 every 7 AB vs Lefties
