Balls in the dirt in "any grip" should not be allowed to be used unless you have 0-2,1-2 or 2-2 count on the batter.
Balls pitched above your head should only be allowed when those counts of 0-2 , 1-2 are in play.
These pitches every pitch is ruining the baseball experience on mlb 22....
I'm more concerned that those balls in the dirt etc are hit for homers with pci.
We need a timing only ranked mode!

I was also thinking about allowing players to sub out their opponents pitchers after 3 innings if they can't hit them, I know I hate it when somebody is dominating me, it really ruins the mlb 22 experience.

Go watch mlb. Show me evidence of a consistent dirt ball that wasn't accidentally thrown on a plus count or even count with less than 2 strikes.

Uh, it's a video game in competitive mode. Competitive mode. Why on earth would you strip back basic options?
This isn't Madden's cover-2 deep zone not working and people spamming deep outs.
It's you swinging at absolute garbage.
Don't swing.
(By the way, I guarantee you that if actual MLB players swung at this stuff, pitchers would never throw strikes. Stop swinging.)

Not being a smart alec here just trying to use logic. But lets say just for giggles this was implemented. Wouldn't people sit on those pitches in those counts b/c that would be only time you could pitch it? Cmon man think it through.

if the guy swings at it then its valid....they do it all the time, just watch Marcell Ozuna or Josh Donaldson ABs....not to mention a walk to said guys is a better result than grooving a fastball. This isn't High School, higher level pitchers throw off speed behind in the count. 2-2 dirt curve isn't unrealistic

Why stop there? My opponents should only be able to steal bases in a 2-1 count Monday through Friday. If it's the weekend they can steal in a 1-1 count, but only after the 5th inning if the starting pitcher is still in the game.

The one thing I will say regarding balls in the dirt is I wish there would be more passed balls or wild pitches to negate people from throwing 75% of their pitches straight into the dirt. Obviously it’s easy to just say “take the ball” or “stop swinging then!” but to me they make these catchers stop 95% of these wild pitches that would normally get past the catcher. This would also deter people from throwing junk all the time. Just my opinion obviously…

Now THIS I could agree with. Making blocking an attribute that actually matters.
Bingo…or at the very least add a catcher “energy” bar like pitchers. The more they have to drop and slide to stop bad pitches from getting away the more energy they use up per inning (could regenerate every inning etc).

My opponent should only be allowed to throw either a pitch out of the zone or a meatball once I get to 2 strikes!

Balks should be on in all competitive game modes. Balks are part of baseball after the age of 12.

Why not just take the walk by not swinging at them???
At some point that would force your opponent to start throwing pitches in the strike zone or forfeit the game after so many consecutive walks!

Players in the MLB can take pitches, so of course you won't see it.

So I played a guy who used Dallas and he literally threw dirtballs 80% of his pitches. His pitch graph looked ridiculous. Utterly comical.
I find that cowardly and infuriating, but it's my fault for swinging at them. For some reason I can't read that pitcher at all.
I stand by my previous post, even though the God of Irony threw this guy at me right after I posted it...lol...
