Again I’m totally fine with moving on from the PS4 era if PS5s were available in store. But for Sony to not provide enough systems for everyone who wants to buy them, and then decide to advance past the PS4 era, that’s where I have a problem.
eBay isn’t necessarily the black market, but requiring your fan base to buy from scalpers is wrong in my opinion. And don’t tell me about apps and that BS. I’ve tried numerous times to buy one at retail and BS always happens. Apps will crash. I’ve had one in my cart numerous times but can’t check out because the app will crash then be sold out.
Either figure out a way for your customers to buy the systems instead of bots, or you need to keep producing an even playing field for those who don’t want to give their money to scalpers.
Just because you guys want to pay a 40% mark up, doesn’t mean everyone should have to. This game is already heavily dependent on having a monitor to be able to play at a high level, now I have to pay $800 for something that should be $500?
Tbf if somy actually charged what it cost to make them it would probably be pushing 800 anyway lmao

Consoles have been like that forever. The PS5 for example is estimated $450 in parts. Throw in labor and shipping costs and its well over what they are selling them for

They are giving people who paid for something what they paid for, not abandoning anyone. Game still plays as intended on other platforms.

I would challenge this….the cross-platform compatibility is delineated between the login account of respective users: PlayStation Network (PSN) and Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA)
PS4 + PS5 are still on the same “platform” while utilizing different “consoles”.
I did a little searching now to help validate further but it’s a little jumbled out there….any definitive reference on your end?

I think for a lot of people it’s not that they don’t want to fly first class, it’s that there aren’t enough seats.
We just bought one last week for my father-in-law from ebay. They are out there, they just cost more than most are willing to spend. It's unfortunate, but it's not like you absolutely can't buy one, becasue you can.

Can only go by what was said by the devs on pre-launch streams last year and this year. They specifically said that cross play is cross gen AND cross platform, and that if you want to play people from the same platform, turn cross play off.
And to your point about user types, it works for created stadiums

I think for a lot of people it’s not that they don’t want to fly first class, it’s that there aren’t enough seats.
We just bought one last week for my father-in-law from ebay. They are out there, they just cost more than most are willing to spend. It's unfortunate, but it's not like you absolutely can't buy one, becasue you can.
But again it’s availability….yes “some” exist but there is clearly a distinct shortage that has been documented from the last almost 2 years. I don’t have the personal recollection from previous initial launches, but while there may be instances of short supply at a given location, there was never anything on a scale as there is today.
There is a big difference between going into 1 of any dozen brick + mortar places or their respective online retailer vs having to scour the internet, be first notice on releases/stocking, etc.

Just Googled "ps5 ebay" and boom I could have one here thursday for $695 + $20 shipping, in box, form a seller with 98.8% positive feedback, and backed by ebays money back guarantee. $200 over retail, I would hardly call that scouring.
That’s a 40% markup, for something that isn’t being exploited to its potential yet by your own admission.
You also have to factor in that a lot of players are from outside the US, so the already rare availability is even worse depending on where you live.
This is still not a good reason to hold back PS5 features. If some countries are suffering from lack of food... should we here not be able to access groceries?

It's a good question because much of what the ps5 can do that makes it a worthwhile purchase is only available if you have a good monitor/tv. If you don't, then it doesn't make much sense to get a ps5 since most games are being cross-developed.
If your reason is, I love Ratchet and Clank and Gran Turismo, then that's fair.
Otherwise, yes: time to upgrade.

Yeah the freezes are unacceptable, especially since it’s been an issues for years now
Luckily that was my only one yesterday. And since the update, the game plays so much more smooth for me. I can read and react to pitches now even on HOF
Hitting engine is still garbage but I’m lucky to say at least the game is playing way more smooth for me and only 1 freeze so far in about 10 online games. Still 1 too many

Not a placebo. It’s extremely noticeable. I am 100% playing at 120hz and can confirm it both on my display and from the input lag experience. Now it might be 60fps/120hz with duplication of frames, but I’m fine with that as long as I get the input lag reduction.

I'm starting think all your online issues are personal issues and not the games fault. If your PS5 is set to 120hz and your monitor is capable then you should notice a difference. If you don't, it's not the hardware.

I mean im happy with my tv and went 100-23 last year on ranked so it hasnt caused me an issue. saving some money for an upgrade would be smart to do though so thank you for that input, looking quickly it seems any sort of monitor or TV is gonna cost around 800+ which a lot to spend on as a student for simply gaming
