SP and playing positional

I have created a SP, but also want to bat on my off days, in Franchise, every time I play the player in the lineup usually I do 2B or OF they "sub" him out and I cannot play as him, is this a bug, is there a setting or something I need to do with the player or is this something that cannot be done? When he is placed as a DH it's completely fine.

Ummm, pretty sure you answered your own question.

If his primary is Pitcher you can put him in as a position player.

If you want to bat with him; you have to put him in as DH.

And did you pick two-way player?

You can also sub a pitcher in as a position player.
