Just going to add my two cents as I'm trying to be less toxic.
This game IS fun if you go into the matchup knowing that anything can happen and your w/l record, era, and/or batting avg is just a number and doesn't mean anything outside in the real world.
Does it have flaws? Yes.
Is it perfect? No.
Can it ever be perfect? No. And I mean that because one person's 'Perfect' is different than another person's 'Perfect'.
If you have that mindset and just realize that's it's a video game and don't take it serious; you can have fun playing it.
And if you're not having fun playing it; then don't play it. And using 'it's the only baseball game out there' excuse is just that; an excuse.
Some of us play this game to compete against other people who want to compete. If that's not your thing and you're more of a "casual" player, then yes what you say is true. I prefer playing this game in a competitive environment though, and many more like me. In that sense, this game is god awful. No ifs or buts about it.

MVP Baseball 2005, which is now a 17 year old game, is still vastly better than any Show game, from a technical and design standpoint. It's really a shame there isn't any competition but we live in a monopolistic world now.
Even on its own right, the game is riddled with bugs, inconsistencies, technical issues and sub par gameplay.

Man, 18 is the notorious one that everyone hates yeah? Bummer that this year is being compared to it. Last year was my first year playing DD and while a lot of people noted the gameplay was bad, as an offline player, the content was fantastic. This year seems to be far less enjoyable. The fact that for many, Mini seasons are unplayable and there's just not as much to do in conjunction with all the complaints of bad online gameplay, it's a shame.

i’m not big on cpu modes and typically don’t care much abt the content. it’s pretty unfortunate to be hearing negative feedback abt even the offline modes bc the last couple years people have seemed to be quite happy with the content.
