Margins in Market

It's been interesting to read people's takes on the impact of adding so many more players to the market; some think it's been great, some think it's hurt the market. I don't have a degree in economics or anything, but it seems like the more people in the market, the thinner the margins will be. You'd think that it would effect both the Buy Now and Sell Now prices, but so far it seems like the only thing being effected is the Sell Now prices, which shrink the margins. I thought low diamond Live Series might be the way to go for flipping, because they are relatively affordable, and EVERYONE needs them to complete the main collections to earn Randy Johnson, but even the margins there are next to nothing right now.
If a good market doesn't materialize somewhere, it's going to be very difficult for players like myself who don't buy stubs to complete collections, especially since SDS has nuked the amount of stubs you can earn playing the actual game.
I've seen a ton of people over the years on this message board threaten to leave the game for good over things like gameplay, server issues, and whatever else. I wonder how many of those truly did leave for good. I don't mind so much the issues with gameplay and server problems, this is still the best baseball game on the market. But if the only avenue to complete collections and obtain high diamonds is to purchase stubs or to play an ungodly amount of games at an ungodly high level, this could be the thing that drives me away.

I'm not sure if saying this will ruin my gameplan or not, but Topps now cards make the market move. We don't have topps now cards yet. Selling of topps now cards get more stubs into buyers hands. You might see a drastic change in the marketplace come friday assuming the same topps now format

This is a great point. And you're right, they do move the market.

It's also has alot to do with them getting rid of all the free packs they were handing out with team affinity last year. Less packs-less cards- less sell nows.
If it doesn't improve I'm not spending anymore money on stubs or time with this year's game. O don't mind spending money buying stubs but not when there isn't an option to make them on my own.
Excellent point that I didn't even consider.
Problem is it is an incorrect point ..there are options

Personally I have found the market a little harder than in the past but not too bad...I have almost completed live series collections and have over 300,000 stubs all from working the market
-
I honestly believe that it is due to the fact that everyone knows about flipping now. Back in The show 16 or 17 I remember it was way more profitable since no one knew about it

No I meant the less free packs means less sell nows

I’ve been flipping to finish collections for about 4 years now. This market seems to be a bit tougher than in the past. I have 8 teams left to finish in LS collection. The margins are very small. I made a ton during early access, but it’s slowed substantially. All I have left are the big boy diamonds to collect right now so we’ll see. I wonder if the change in quick sell values have anything to do with it, I don’t know. Margins are definitely razor thin right now so when I flip, I flip is mass bulk, not quality haha

Basic problem is everyone knows how to flip.. This has 6 million players, everyone who is a veteran goes to the market and looks for margins and flips, it was only a matter of time before this went away.. With the app you can put 50 orders in in 3 seconds... Eventually all good things come to an end.

Perhaps. But without the market this game won't last. We will see, some of the vets on here seem to think this is normal.

Yeah, making stubs in the marketplace hasn’t been a thing for me this year. Sucks.

Huh? The market is actually functioning efficiently right now. In case you missed it, this is a baseball game. I think it will survive the market becoming more efficient.

If flipping cards becomes obsolete as the post I replied too was inferring, then no i dont think the game will have the same DD following.
-
Maybe if flipping is harder things like Chipper Jones, Willie Mays and Trea Turner won’t be locked behind 600 one million stub orders at the end of the year.

Yes, excellent point from the other poster about how less free packs mean less sell now

Oh ok your quoted section cut that part off
-
I'm not worrying much about flipping and collections this year. I'm just letting to naturally evolve. My whole team is FOTF, Pujols and Dontrelle right now. I'm pretty set.

Flippers do not impact when a card is released, how many of said card are obtained, and subsequently how many are listed for sale.
The issue you point out doesn't have much, if anything, to do with flippers.
