@briankoke_mlbts said in If I preorder on Switch and PS5?:

If one is digital deluxe and the other is standard, will I get early access on both?

If I order the digital deluxe on both, do I get double the extra packs that come with it?

    1. No. Early access is only if you order the MVP or Digital Deluxe version.

    2. Yes and No. Yes if you have two separate gamer tags (one for the PS5 and a different one for the Switch) and they aren't linked. But you'll have two separate accounts with seperate progress.

    No if you link them.

Normally I would say just buy the Digital Deluxe for the console you play the most, the standard for the other console, and $40-50 in stubs. But Diamond and Gold cards that come with the DD option will probably be inflated the first few months and the amount of stubs you get for $40-50 probably won't cover their cost.

Me personally, if I was still pre-ordering, I would just buy the PS5 version and wait to get the Switch version when it goes on sale. (I don't trust that there won't be issues for Switch users for the first few months of the game's cycle.)

I already preordered on the Switch because I’ll use that the most. I definitely want it on PS5 though. I’m just trying to figure out the best option. If I get early access and another set of rewards for buying the digital deluxe twice, I’d probably do it, but I’m not spending an extra $40 on just early access for a 2nd console. Sounds like the standard version is the best bet.

Has SDS actually answered this, or are we just guessing?

Not really a guess when you figure that the rewards are linked to the account that buys the game. So if you buy the DD with your PS5 account; those rewards will go on that account.

If you buy the DD with the Switch account; then they will go on that account.

I can't see them letting you combine the rewards because when you earn a player; you don't get two of that player.

Also, it could be treated like how any stubs that are purchased on the Switch won't be available on the PS5. But if you earn them, then you will have them.

What you're doing is linking two accounts into one.

But you can earn the same player more than once. Who’s to say that buying the DD twice doesn’t give you twice the rewards? These are mostly packs which could easily be doubled.

I don't recall if we have gotten an answer to this specific question, but we have made predictions based on how the process has been explained.

I think Collin mentioned in one of the threads that when you link accounts, The Show account is "looking" at which one you make the primary, and is using that for your progress on both consoles. That would mean if you link a Switch and PS5 and make the Switch the primary, then the stubs or cards you have on PS5 the digital Deluxe bonuses would be ignored and in the background. If you were to unlink a month later after earning cards and stubs, they would all be on the Switch version, and the PS5 team would just have whatever stubs and bonuses you had from day 1 before you linked. If that is in fact how the process works, then I don't see how it would be possible to double dip and get both sets of bonuses on the primary account.

I could be wrong, but based on how the process was explained I wouldn't waste my money on two digital Deluxe versions. I would go with the one I want early access on, pick up a standard copy for the other version, and just flip cards opening weekend to get up and over what I would have had if I had spent $200 on two digital Deluxe versions and were able to combine them.

What I mean is that if you're playing on the PS5 and you earn a Choice pack for a player; once you pick that player that Choice pack is gone. If you go into a game with the Switch then; it will be in the SAME spot that you just left with the PS5. So you won't have that Choice pack anymore.

Seems like it would be the same with preorders.

Can we get a dev to chime in on this?

Also wondering about this, did anyone get a response from SDS? I’m looking to purchase on both PS5 and switch but will mostly play on PS5. Not fussed if the bonuses don’t carry over but don’t want to short change myself if they do

It’s not looking like we’re going to get an answer, so I’m just going with the standard.

I’ve asked this question here and on Reddit and never gotten an official response. No one seems to know for sure and is speculating. Would love to here from SDS.

I don’t see what the big deal here is. Buy the early access version for your main platform and get the regular game for your backup. It’s only four days.

If you want all the goodies x2, you’re better off spending the $ on packs and stubs, not buying two of the same version.

I’m buying the game on switch regardless. So that’s $60. The deluxe version lands you 25k stubs and 20 packs ($45 if bought in game). You also get 5 guaranteed gold cards, a ball player item, and two diamonds (cover and special art card). If there is a collection for the cover diamonds or the artwork diamonds they will be worth a ton for the first couple of months Ike the 42 series last year. That’s a much better deal than paying $60 for the switch version and then buying $49 worth of stubs/packs in game. But it’s a moot point if the deluxe bonuses don’t stack since I already have the PS5 version pre ordered.

Has anyone gotten a concrete answer on this? I feel like this would be a pretty common occurrence this year with people wanting to play on PS/XB and portable on switch. Have been trying to hold off on pre ordering until we have an answer so I don’t waste money, but it’s cutting it close

I am wondering the same exact thing. I won’t be home this weekend but will have access to my Switch so plan on purchasing the DD version on there. I get back Sunday and prefer my primary console to be my PS5. Just don’t want to purchase both DD versions if rewards aren’t there just for two days early on PS5, I would just finish out on Switch until standard release two days later.

I had posted this question a while back as well. My original plan was that I bought the DD PS5 and a regular hard copy for the switch. My plans changed and I was going to be out of town during the 4 day early access. So I cancelled my hard copy pre-order and bought the DD for the switch. Now I have copies of DD for both consoles.

I bought early access on PS5 and standard on Switch. I cannot play on Switch early because when I click on game it checks internet and declines stating it should be available on 4/5.

    From the FAQ
It varies by platform and the edition you purchase. Linking accounts between Xbox and PlayStation will allow you to receive the bonuses from purchase of MLB The Show 22 on those platforms, regardless of which edition of the game you purchased. Players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition or the digital version of the Standard Edition on Nintendo Switch will not be able to share bonus items across platforms, even with linked accounts. Players who purchase the physical version of the Standard Edition on Nintendo Switch can share bonus items, but are advised to link the account in-game (available on 4/1) BEFORE entering any voucher codes you may have, to avoid potential issues with redeeming them.

I did. Double all rewards. The only issue is that stubs (25k) are tied to the individual console. The cards you get from the packs go into your normal mlb account. The stubs aren’t a big deal as I will just buy 25k worth of cards from the marketplace that I need for collections anyway.

Edit: I got the Xbox and PS deluxe versions, not the switch.
