I guess the owners and players are competent willing to damage the game of baseball by continuing this lockout.

Does anyone who understands these types of negotiations and legal nuances, have any predictions as to whether this will end soon or at all? I admittedly do not follow all the ins and outs of this, and am curious what other people think will happen.

Nothing gets done without some sort of deadline. Spring training revenue doesn't mean much to the owners, especially if they can keep the luxury tax threshold where it is and save on minimum contracts they win short and long term. Players don't get paid for ST at all so no effect on them.

That they haven't agreed yet doesn't mean much, but you'd like to see them willing to actually meet and talk at this point. If we go another 2-3 weeks and nothing happens it's time to worry

I think it's time to worry. I agree with everything you've said here....it just blows my mind they let it get this far.

I've been saying this for a while, especially if the players want to get the most from the CBA.

I agree but unfortunately by that point, baseball may be unsalavagable. The strike of 1994 crippled the game and it took steroids to revive it. Yes, Ripken helped, but that didn't last. In 2022, with people's attention spans shorter than ever, I believe many people will lose interest and not come back. How will guys like Lindor making $341 million to play crappy baseball make their money if fans stop watching games? No, I'm not even remotely on the side of the owners. But all this talk of the players fighting for Minor leaguers is a joke. Their biggest sticking point is the luxury tax threshold and once they start canceling games, the players will fight for their insane and undeserved salaries.

I am usually an optimist, but it's time to start deciding what we as fans can do because neither of these sides care at all about us and we're the fuel for their fire.

Glad to see we're in spring training now. Can't wait for the regular season to start.
