If MLB bans the shift...

While the banning of the shift will definitely help me because of how often I hit into it I still hate it because to me it's the equivalent of football making up a new rule every time Tom Brady got hurt or lost a game.
I love you @Kovz88 , but I love Tom more. Tuck rule rules!!!
I can fully admit I only hate Tom Brady out of jealousy. When he won a SB first year in Tampa I was like ok, even as a 49er fan I can no longer make the argument that Joe Montana is the GOAT.

I would love it if they ban the shift. Not neccesarily because I feel it's unfair, but the way it is implemented into the game IS unfair. Meaning it does the work automatically for you, instead of you having to actually think about the situation and make the decisions on your own. It's a lazy game mechanic that hurts good hitters (people who can consistently pull the ball - into the shift then) and benefits people who lack the awareness or willingness to put on the shift themselves.
Long story short, ban the shift hurrah hurrah.

I agree. But would it help/hinder your MLBTS gameplay? Or no effect?

Oh maybe I wasn't clear enough on that part. It would benefit me tremendously, because I pull the ball often since that will give you the best results in this game. So on one hand the game wants you to be early or slightly early to get the highest exit velocities, but if you're not lifting the ball enough then you're either gonna line out or ground out to the shifted infielder. And even when you do hit it over the shift, the outfielders are already in perfect position too. So it's literally either homerun or out most of the times. Which is frustrating for the reasons I mentioned in my previous comment.
Now I could go be a salty win above anything type of player and try to hit late intentionally to hit it against the shift. But I believe that will only hurt myself in the long run because it messes up my timing. I have bunted occasionally against the shift when I desperately need something going, and I don't like that either. But I will if I have to. Another problem solved with banning the shift.

... and MLBTS bans it, how would that affect you? For me, I think it would hurt, as I'm a notoriously late swinger, and hit lots of balls to the opposite field against the shift. Not sure. What do the rest of you big-brained people think?
I’ve had my auto shift turned off since ‘19. I suggest you do the same. Enjoy the results.

Right, I forgot to mention that on defense I also play with the auto shift off.

I’d like to see extreme shifts banned in the MLB. I love a well pitched game, but I don’t like seeing so many hitters opt for the absolute outcome approach. I want to see more players rewarded for putting the ball in play. Strikeouts are boring and besides that they are fascist. Ground balls are more democratic.
-
How would you even implement it? One of the umps has to count how many steps each fielder takes in the wrong direction?

Only 2 infielders on each side of 2B.

It's not exactly rocket science you would think...

Im not in favor of banning it outright, its strategy and the defense does leave half the field open to exploit.
I am however in favor of the partial ban of all infielders must be on the infield dirt. -

I only hit dingers, so shift doesn’t matter!

We lost to the eventually SB Champ Rams. Did they change a rule then? I didn't hear about it 🤪 -

I want to see them draw a circle 3 feet in diameter and you can't leave until the ball leaves the pitcher's hand. The second it does, you can run anywhere you like. I'm loving this rule...

My comment has nothing to do with your post but I think you'll like it anyway.
I had not used Finest Bryan Reynolds until a few days ago. Nothing against him, just haven't. Then I created a roster of NL high diamonds I haven't used and have him as a bench player.
He is now 12 for 13 with 2 game winning HRs and 10 RBIs. Soooooooo. ..guess I should have been listening to you. And he's getting a promotion haha.
Also. I will enjoy a banned shift in the Show only when using righties because I get a lot of grounders up the middle which go right to the second baseman above the bag. Lefties I'm able to find that hole on the right side and sometimes go the other way.

Or professional hitters can learn to hit the ball the other way, the way professional hitters did for the first 100 years of the game.
