I guess to me, the main advantage is, you get to play the game you love all year along with the season. Plus this year you couldn't go back and complete all the innings as they all had a month before they went away.

Sure I could wait to buy and probably still quickly get a competitive team, but that also means I won't be playing MLB for atleast a couple months, so I'd rather just buy it since I want to play.

With everything that I have coming up; nit being able to play for a few months won't really bother me that much.
From April until Sept; I'll be lucky if I have 2-3 hrs a week to play.
With the possibility of the servers crapping out, which they usually do (heck we're getting server issues NOW), and my limited time available to play is to much of a gamble to constitute paying full prince for a game that will eventually go on sale.

Look at it this way, the players earned in the first few months are all replaceable by June or July when the 99's start rolling out in earnest and the all star break gives a a bunch of options to earn good cards.

See, that's why I was thinking on waiting.
Since I've been waiting in my Finest Turner order to fill I decided to make a secondary account just to see how far I could go.
So far I've completed all the Moments except for the TN. I'm half way through those.
And I have all the other programs (FOD, Post Season, etc) completed except for the stat missions and Conquest Maps.
With all the 'free' cards I've received I have enough to field at least three competitive lineups.
And I have a TON of packs to open and about 1.5M in stubs.
I've done all that in a little over a month.

At least with Xbox users you don't really need to worry about buying it when its release. The only decision to be game is if you want to buy the collectors edition and get access to the game earlier with extra stubs and cards.

Imo the game is best played in the first month of the year. No god squads, every team is different, varying difficulty. I've faced all silver/bronze teams and all diamond early on.

Yep, agreed. I liked playing online more early on.

If you're at all a completionist like myself, you'll regret starting late.
I have 2 cards that are unattainable for me right now:
2nd Half Smoltz
Roberto AlomarAnd in Alomar's case, I'm sure some other player will stupidly ruin their lives/reputation next year too and cause SDS to cancel them, causing you to be missing 1 card.
Yes, I know this is crazy and not important to 99% of you, but it is to me!

You’re crazy! Buying a game to actually play the game? You do know this is 2022?
Anyways, yes most of us buy the game to play. Yes building a god squad is cool and yes I could start 2 months later and most likely have a similar squad as someone who started day 1. The true fans of the game like the progression and the competition. I like starting fresh and having to rebuild. I like testing cards and figuring out what works. I like facing early game pitching and using less than stellar diamonds. It makes you appreciate the better cards later. It is a nice slow burn and on paper the payoff looks the same. But the experience to get there is way different.

Honestly, if they gave you the option to 'wipe the slate clean' with your squad; I wouldn't mind that.
I've heard people complain about stat grinds; but I'd much rather have it set up where it takes you longer to obtain certain cards.
Or even the process where if the come out with an AS (Current, not Flashback) card of a Live Series player and the only way to unlock that player is to get a set amount of stats with their LS version.
Also, while I like the concept of The Finest Series; I think they need to get rid of them or have the same thing as above.
Make LS cards more useable.

When can we start the 'missing Alomar' support group?

I pre-order after the reveals for the double dailies.
