21 was a great game, especially for DD offline content which is what I play.

I will surely miss it when the updates are done. I don't know how 22 can top this game. In the videogame industry, especially sports games, it's very rare to have back to back great games.

Plus it being free on gamepass was a big win. But once they decide to take it off gamepass, I think i'll just buy a physical copy of it just to have around.

    Good job SDS!

SDS doesn’t get nearly enough love for how much free, accessible, usable stuff they give away to online players.

Or how they’ve taken care of those who don’t play online so they can get most of those same things.

Or how even though there are micro transactions they don’t make them necessary to compete or even emphasize them.

So long as these stay true I’ll always buy the game on principle.

    Now fix franchise dammit!!!🤬

All this stuff should be free. We paid for a baseball game. I hate that video games have just turned into microtransactions. When I was a kid, you bought the entire game on a cartridge.

21 sucked balls. 20 was far superior.

Part of that was because gameboys and collecovision couldn't handle microtranactions. If the technology existed at the time, you know they would have.

Cards we’re great, the types of cards were even better but content was the exact same as always. Need more ways to unlock the cards and more missions when they actually drop them. 4 missions every two weeks is about as bad as it gets. They should have multiple tiers to keep earning XP. Get 4 hits with “insert team name” 50x is laughable

This games was a dumpster fire outside of content and the parallel system. I’ve been playing this game since 2006, 20 and 21 were my least playing version.

I know. 21 sucks because it's a terrible game. 20 was spot on.

Here's a great example. I'm doing conquest and I hit a line drive with Foxx to LF. The ball falls in front of the LF for a single, yet the game calls it an error. The ball was on the ground, bounces up and hits the fielders glove and it gives me an error. SDS can't program for [censored].

I can see why first time Xbox players like the game. It's new to them if they never played on PS. 20 was mynfirst real time playing this franchise and I loved it. I still go back and play from time to time. 21 is a horrible game with shiny cards. Who cares and some card art? Everyone is just seduced by pretty things in this game and you can't see it for what it really is. I'm finishing this game cycle and I'm done with it forever. It's the only baseball game available worth playing (no, I'm not playing the dumptruck of OOTP or whatever its called or RBI Baseball).

@Schwizzle_Nizzle I disagree with you and here is why...

I've been playing this series religiously since 2015 when Puig was the cover athelete. Take it from me, someone who has a lot of time spent on the franchise, and someone who is at least imo a pretty decent player. 21 is the best title we have seen since 17.

A play being registered as an error is imo the least criminal thing to base disdain on when the game you're referencing was a check swing haven for players to sit on nothing but fastballs. Broken game mechanics will always outweigh minor detail ones. 21 balanced the game very well and I have very little complaints regarding the overall gameplay. Majority of my complaints center around the structure of their content and unrealistic mechanics around stamina and outlier.

Now I get the freeze-offs, occasional lock on bug for pop-ups, and the bunt exploit. Problem is that these all exist in every other title too.

Personally my list of games goes...

    16
    15
    17
    21
    20
    Eight-Teen.

If 20 addressed checkswings in a better fashion and had more balanced gameplay like 21, id probably agree with you. But the rampant checkswinging cheese makes it one of the worst titles instead. Also why are you complaining about card art and shiny things? 20 is no different.

I don't know man, everything in 20 felt good to me. Checks were crazy but they went way too far in the opposite direction this year. I play mainly offline and they really screwed it.

My note about the error call was minor but it's that stuff over and over and over that I can't stand any longer. RNG cr@p also is a pathetic cop out for bad programming. The game decides everything for you instead of rewarding good input.

Unless SDS can actually program realistic gameplay, I'm done.

I don't wanna sound elitist when I say this, but you playing mostly offline kind explains a lot. The game on both versions play completely differently online vs offline.

17 was ground breaking. Graphics and gameplay. Real physics too. That was the best SHOW but 21 is right behind.

And yes I am basing this strictly offline play. Online may be a different story. I don’t know.

18 really made me miss 17. 19 made me miss 17 even more.

I played 100+ RS games in 20 and finished around 80-29. Played about 70 this year (47-29 I think) and I was at only at 16 games played online before grinding for Trout. Online this year really sucks, especially all the freeze offs. This year felt like a huge L to me, both online and offline. Content is good. But they kinda have to put out good content to make the game have staying power.

I honestly wonder how much of that is video game/series fatigue.

All this [censored] about RNG...randomness exists in baseball, and a lot of the time getting a bad result with good input makes people cry RNG! In my eyes, it's about how often you get good input. If your input is consistently good, then results will be consistently good. If I'm playing a RS game, where I suck, and I square up ONE BALL and it's right at a fielder, that's my fault too.

Good programming doesn't mean that every time you square up a ball it should be a bomb or even a hit.

It's bad programming when you have a 99 speed runner hit a ground ball into the deep hole in SD, only for a 56 arm, 60 accuracy fielder get the ball in short left field and throw you out by two steps. The game forces your runner to run in quicksand. This game has programmed outcomes to every hit when you swing. PP flyballs with 125 power hitters dying at the fence 10 times a game. Bronze fielders making platinum left plays at 1st and 3rd on 114 mph balls hit near them. Forced double plays every single time you have someone on first base? Really? This game has become pure trash.
