I tried Willie Mays
-
I was really looking forward to using Willie but just like Hank Aaron I’m not a fan of his swing at all so I sold him and picked up Ernie Banks. That Ernie card is crazy. His swing is legit and in the past 3 games he’s gotten on base every single at bat. Along with 3 home runs. For some reason even with 50 something speed he seems to get balls in the gap. I’m sure his weaknesses will show eventually but for now this man is on the god squad.

It is weird how cards play so differently for everyone. Mays hits a home run almost every game I play him in...that's offline though, so that may be the difference.

Does he seem to hit everything opposite field for you? Even on perfect perfect the ball would go opposite field for me, didn’t make sense. I’m going to buy him back but want to see the floor price for him first. I think he’s about as low as he’s gonna go right now,

I gave Aaron 50 at bats & he didn't do diddly squat for me. ONLY many weakly hit grounders, pop ups & easy fly outs. It made me feel the card had juiced up stats just for show only. So I sold him. I was fearing the same would be with Mays. But I for benefit of doubt I wanted to give him 50 at bats & he started raking for me from the get-go. Even though Arron's & Mays attributes are really matched almost identical in every way. Both are very different with how they would play for someone. May's swing is just better for me with how my ability is to time my swings.
-
No, he hits most everything out to left or left center. I think maybe once or twice he's hit opposite field, but no HRs that way that I can recall.

I started hot with Aaron, hitting like crazy but lately, that card has been in a dry spell for me. The same thing has happened with Jackie. Once I got the 99 card to P5, he's hardly hit anything for me. I thought it was just me.

Jackie was the complete opposite for me. He started off great and then parallel 3 and 4 he hit with no power. Once I got him to parallel V the man turned into a god hitting bombs.

I have Aaron hitting 4th for me. Hes been very good in a smallish sample size.
I'm still not sure who I will take between the 3 bosses this inning. I'm around 300k XP right now. Mays would be platoon or bench spot. Rollins has SS locked up ATM, but maybe Banks could do better. Sale would fight with Kershaw/Grove for one of the LHP spots in the rotation.

I have a conspiracy theory on this
The higher % a player is owned/used, the more nerfed he'll be
The lower % a player is owned/used, he'll be a God until people see how good that player does then everyone gets him and he gets nerfed again.
Wouldn't seem too hard to code either by just changing sliders based on % of innings used per/player

This may be. I was wondering if it had something to do with an unreported energy level. I know in Franchise the player's energy levels would go down if they didn't get a day off..I was wondering if this was the same thing.

His weakness will be his range, 50 speed makes it tough for him to get to some of the balls someone like Wander does IMO. Still a solid card though.

What are you saying? This year with how the OF speed is nerfed. Any Outfielder regardless of speed attribute being within 40's or even 30's, they can all still track down any fly ball & get to it to catch for an out. My current go to OF is Luis Gonzalez in LF, Mays in CF & Justice in RF & they all get to every ball easily. Has to be a speeding bullet line drive to the gap or straight down the lines or a HR for them NOT to be able to get to. LMAO

I agree. I’ve used banks in 10 games and he hits tanks. And he gets to the ball up the middle too. Kinda surprising for having slow speed. He shuffles his feet well. He doesn’t really run towards the balls just scoots over fast. Kinda impressed so far,

Wouldn’t a speed nerf mean they don’t get to fly balls?

I can't hit with Willie either.

Currently saving up for banks but here’s my experience: so what happened was I needed 45k or so to get the boss so I went and started working on the showdown. I took willie as I lived his TA2 card but that was before I had a monitor. He hit alright, few base hits and 1 homer in all the missions. But there were 2 unexpected heroes, the first one was Mitch Garver. Raked with him and he hit bombs in the most clutch moments. And for the last few challenges, Rickey Henderson. Hit many bombs and the bomb that got me the final run I needed to beat Chris Sale. I went and bought him since I needed a LF and he seemed good. And I RAKE with Rickey. Maybe it’s my great grandpas a’s magic or whatever. He is a god. Recommend him to anyone. Lou Brock on steroids.
-
It really is about swing preference. Hank started slow but once I got the hang of his swing, he is legit. This definitely is the best selection of bosses we have had. I want Sale but already have a hard time getting all my SPs playing time. I doubt Mays would replace Mantle plus we will get a new Trout and Griffey hopefully soon. Banks looks great, but he would benched once a new Tatis drops. Tough decisions to be made.

thats the best part about this game imo
you nailed it
i still am rocking Clemente out in RF - he has saved me games - also that Griffey card is my starting CF still !!!

I was playing a RedSox pitcher innings mission on Veteran. I used my P3 LS Sale, since I didn't take the 99 one.
Sale was 3 for 4, but Mays went 5 for 6, 3 HR. He hit a no doubt oppo HR on a Changeup! I was thinking of selling him hours before! Maybe not now! -
I love willies swing. He’s a beast for me.
