The Tampa Bay Rays intend to use the postseason to boost their plan to split future seasons between Tampa and Montreal.

Just another indication that the Rays won’t be in Florida much longer and a team coming back to Montreal. It’s a shame as the Rays have been good for a while now and people still don’t go to see them. O’s fans would pack Camden Yards if they were even close to being that good.

Excellent business strategy.
Not getting enough attendance?
lets go to a place that historically has been even worse. -

lets go to a place that historically has been even worse.Montreal is a fickle market, much like Toronto. The cities need their ball teams to be winners unless it comes to hockey, the arenas are always sold out.
I think another part of it for Montreal is they need a new ball park. Olympic Stadium is Tropicana North. If you have an ownership group willing to buy the team, corporate sponsors lined up and a new ballpark ready to go, I don’t see why they can’t have a second chance.

I think you read too much into it.

Every city is a fickle market. When there team is doing good, attendance goes up and then they say we are a baseball town, when they start losing attendance goes down.
-
If Montreal needs a stadium we have a good one nobody is using here in Texas, it doesn't have a roof but hey why would you need on in Montreal

Very true, but even when the Expos were good pre-1994 strike there attendance wasn’t great. Last time they drew over 2 million fans before they moved was 1983.

Staying in Tampa isn’t the right answer but moving / splitting time in Montreal doesn’t seem like it will either.

The Rays should be moved to Tampa!

Driving to St. Pete it’s such a pain. Wish they would move to that Ybor City concept stadium they had a few years back.
