This is my first DD in 4 years and tbh I can’t imagine myself grinding like I have done this year every year!
THIS.
In my 40's too, a teacher so I get time in the summer to grind if I want. Thought I'd give DD a fair try this year. It's a great mode that isn't predatory, but I cannot fathom starting over every year.
If SDS instituted a multiyear binder that rewarded multi-year DD grinds, I'd be tempted. They'd also be a trailblazer and make billions off of it. But that won't happen, and I'm already burned out on the grind -- probably won't make it much farther in the inning program this year and I find that...relieving.
Big ups. I’m a SPED teacher. I wish they would do keepers for one pitcher and one batter from year to year. Only catch is that both players would have to be the same card type. Would be pretty rad

This is by far the most inconsistent game I’ve ever played. Every year I get excited for the game and by all star break I’m already burnt out by the BS. This year takes the cake for me though. What good is all the content especially hitters if you can’t hit the ball because pitching is so overpowered? And for all that say otherwise RNG is still a thing. I really want to like this game but every single year it seems to get worse. You would think after what 15 years and the increase in technology this would be getting better instead of worse
lolllll
you are a guy who has never played The Show 18 i reckon
Played since 09. Yeah 18 was rough but this year to me anyways is the worst
Sure there were the pop-ups but what made 18 horrible imo was the souvenirs/exchanges and the poor lineup diversity. Everyone had the same players which gets stale really quick.

Its not all an age thing. A lot of what I see is RNG. Its poor game play. Content is solid. Graphics are the same as theyve been. How is this not improved on? Play by play is the same. Honestly, its pretty much the same game as 20 & 19. Theyve changed the sliders along the way hoping by doing that it gives a different feel. Its like trying to color a pig a different color. Its still a pig. If all things were as solid as content I dont suppose EA Sports would be looking at making a baseball game but they see a wide open market with plenty of buyers.

The gameplay, attributes, skill level are sketch when it comes to online gameplay and the results online make no sense whatsoever. Like Jackie Robinson hitting a 468 ft home run in laughing mountain park when the longest of his career was 370 feet. I mean, the guy was one of the better hitters in the game, but was never a power hitter and has no business having 80 + power.

I can’t think of a better way to say it. We’re only in the “5th inning” and I’m completely bored and disappointed. I can’t get myself to play h2h because hoping to at least get a hit in a 9 inning game holds no appeal. I have Mookie, Mariano, Shohei, Jackie, Chipper and 1.7 million in stubs and I’m wondering why I even wasted my time. It doesn’t matter what hitter you have if you can’t hit you can’t hit and I can’t hit. This game is not fun it’s work, my first and last year buying this game, I’m in my 40s I’m getting too old to waste my time on trash like this, I wonder how many others feel the same way. I just wish someone would bring “Baseball Stars” from Nintendo back, I’m tempted to buy an old Nintendo just to have a fun experience with a baseball game. Baseball Simulator 1000 was more fun than this game. It looks great and there’s tons of content but there is zero fun factor with this game.
Put an NES emulator on your PC with Baseball Star rom. Problem solved

Its not just online. Its offline. The game engine, itself, is the actual issue. Needs a complete over haul.

That made me chuckle.

I play lots of other games like NHL, NBA 2K, Train Sim World 2, Watchdogs Legion, free PS + games some times, and was just getting into Days Gone, but this took over everything! NHL is the one game I play year round, but baseball just took over. It's very fun. Last night, Trouty hit an oppo bomb at Coors and Vasgersian said 'Ba Ba Booey!' That's fun 🤪
Now, I play offline, but A.I. cheap unassisted DP's and SC Top 10 fielders in Moments will drive you nuts, but I still get pleasure out of striking suckas out and hitting HR's and such. -
There are plenty of problems with inconsistent gameplay, but the main reason I think this is my last year playing is the game is just too fast for me. I'll be 51 next month and my eyesight is so-so at best. All-Star is iffy for me, depending on how fast the opposing pitcher throws, but if it's a deGrom or similar I'm pretty much toast.
Time is undefeated and I'm only going to slow down more from here.

Everyone has the same line ups here as well unless you play BR but playing with a bunch of scrubs isn’t why I bought this game. The gameplay was so much better in Baseball Stars it’s ridiculous and that game is 32 years old.

I'm 47 too, and Directional just doesn't work beyond All-Star.
You have to be able to hit pitches off the plate, and it just doesn't happen.
I have found zone to be ridiculously uneven, even when I'm the one pulling sinkers a foot outside for 400ft homers.
Bottom line is there is only one hitting interface that the developers and professional players put their time into and play with: Zone.Directional is much more difficult above All Star, but I’m suggesting analog, not directional. You absolutely can hit pitches off the plate with analog, though, again, you’re right that zone allows for some bendy-wrist maneuvers that defy both physics and the limits of human body mechanics. It’s overpowered, unrealistic, and the mechanic belongs in the FPS genre, not in a baseball game.
What devs and professional players do is of no concern to me; I have more fun with analog, so I do that.
The only people who defend zone are guys who never played, have no idea about the Laws of Motion, and the guys who can hit blindfolded.
Major props to the guys who can, but don't tell me with a straight face that it's realistic.
It's strange that the preferred interface is the least realistic and most easily manipulated. -
I really love the content this year but the hitting has just been unenjoyable this year

Yes.
I just had a RS game that won't show in my logs because it ended in FQ, which was offered to me by my opponent who had struck me out 20 times with P4 Cabrera!! but who hadn't been able to get a run across against me either.
I'm not normally THIS bad against Cabrera but those sliders were going from the pitcher's hand and then turning invisible.
Typically I wouldn't accept FQ mid-game but the chance to erase 20 Ks was too good an offer. I honestly can't believe someone with a 20 K game would want to FQ, but there we go. They were obviously frustrated by their own lack of offense.
