Mantle or Ripken for the 2nd boss? Hints already out on twitter.
I think its George Brett
I'll move Chipper somewhere else to roll with a 99 George Brett (LF perhaps?). His card always hits so well.
Agree - love Brett but problem is they had us thinking this would be an epic set of bosses and so now its a letdown. Nothing against Brett & Kemp but they're not Babe & Mickey....
I agree on this front, too. The pitcher has to be a real good one for me to remember this inning as anything above average.

Could Matt kemp be the “his first 99”
Yeah it's him which means the pitcher won't be Pedro.
To fit the theme of this inning, what pitcher should have been released earlier and will seem kinda meh at this point?
John Smoltz!

Love Kemp!!! He has such a quick swing!!

I disagree, these are epic. Cards no one would have predicted. Something new for us to try out and have fun with. Giving us more variety to play with this year instead of everyone having the exact same legends in their lineup. I love how they mixed it up and that makes it epic.

I agree. If people just want a lineup of Babe, Foxx, Tatis, Chipper, Mantle, Mays, Griffey, and Tatis why not just play a previous version of the game? I know for Xbox players that isn't possible but the people I see complain the most about content drops being disappointing are the ones that have used the same meta lineup for 5 years. I just don't see the fun in that at all

Kemp was the reward for Conquest Extreme. He had a high diamond last year. I dont know about 19, as I never played it, but anyway, it's the same guy, just boosted a little more. How is that diverse? How is having a +5 overall card more fun? I dont get this argument. It seems like some people would be happier playing with a 95-99 boosted Jed Lowrie for some walkoff base hit, than actual real life all time greats. All for the sake of "diversity".

Yes because some of us want.......diversity.

Kemp had a 97 overall prime card last year. This one will be a little bit better. That's it.
-
Which gives us the option to maybe have a new person in our lineup. 97 prime card wasn't good enough to make most peoples final lineup. This one might be. It's nice to have more options to potentially make our team.

There are already like 30+ high rated guys that you can play in the OF right now. It's just that the community decides that the majority isn't usable. People want Manny in the game, and then would say he isnt usable because he isnt fast or good defensively. We asked for Henry Aaron for years, and now no one uses any of his current cards, and may not use his 99 because they dont like his swing.
There isnt a problem with diversity, theres a problem with the what the community deems "usable".
-
If there are not enough cards that are being deemed "usable" than there is a problem with diversity. The more cards deemed as usable only makes the game stronger...not weaker.

You are missing the point. I use that 94 Mickey Mantle in the OF. He crushes lefties, is good enough vs righties. He has speed, is good defensively and has a strong arm. No one else uses him. Why? Because hes not a 99, or they dont like his swing, or they perform better with someone else, etc. Hes completely usable, but not considered by the community. That's a community issue, not a diversity issue.
The content creators and community decide who is "better" and therefore that's who gets used more often. There are plenty of other cards that dont get used that could very easily be in peoples lineups.
-
We are just going to go round and round because I think you are missing the point that the same legends end up in the same lineups every year and to add more cards that can break that lineup is not making the game weaker. When the same lineups end up in 85% of peoples games..then it is a diversity issue. I get that you may be in the 15% that don't use the same cards but that makes your evidence anecdotal. The fact is the majority are using the same cards.

My point is that it will always be this way. The content creators and community choose what card is OP, or meta, or whatever, and that card shows up in 85% of the lineups. It doesnt mean that it's a better card though.
They could come out with 5 OF right now with nearly the exact same attributes. They may have different swings or animations. Even though they are nearly identical, there will be a consensus on which cards are "better" and 85% will use them. That isnt a diversity issue, and it's not currently. It's a community mindset issue.

Sheep mentality. Welcome to our society. Winning in an online video game > trying out different cards and lowering your chances of winning.

I get what you are saying, I truly do. I just don't understand how the answer to that is to stop making different cards available and only making the legends. That will feed into that mentality even more. At least with adding more and more cards give those of us in the 15% more cards to use and break into our lineups...When they stop giving us cards like Kemp 6th inning and only give us Musial, Ruth, Mays, Mantle...it becomes even more stale.
-
I think the point is that unless this Kemp is juiced to absolute absurdity he's going by the wayside when Mantle, Griffey, etc. are released, so why not have a boosted Kemp card earlier in the game's cycle? That way he'll get a good run in people's lineups.

Because then there is no room for guys like Sizemore or Glaus in those spots. Its a lose lose situation for SDS because its either "why not release these cards sooner in waiting for the big names" or "why play this card when I already have _______" its the same group that whines about both. The mindset is that any card that isn't the specific guy they are waiting for is a massive L. They want top notch end game cards on every content drop and that just physically isn't possible
