With the breaking news that Topps will end its deal with the MLB at the end of 2022, does this mean that next year's MLB The Show will not have classic player Topps cards in DD? Or would that start in MLB The Show 23?

Or does it not have any effect on the classic cards that have already been in, and continue to be in DD for years now?

We will have to wait and see. A theory going around is that fanatics tried to buy out topps, topps told them to shove it. Then fanatics went straight to MLB and got this deal, which pretty much forces Topps to sell out to fanatics. Long story short if Fanatics buys topps out nothing will change

Everything I was reading said Topps still has MLB rights till 2025 or 2026. I could be wrong though.

Can't wait for Fanatics Now. I wonder if the show will be able to continue the Topps Nows moments. Maybe they make their own cards like the SHOW TODAY. Idk. Also how will we be able to get the flashbacks like a Breakout Jake Lamb or any flashbacks. Will the show have to make all of their cards including Live Series custom made. Hopefully in the last year of topps in 2025 they will do something big and do something cool because going into 2026 Topps in donezo. Can't wait to see what Fanatics can bring to the table tho. Hopefully it is better then expected.

Bigger question is will we still be playing/able to play MLB TS by the time this change happens.

    Also just found this.
According to a memo from the MLBPA obtained by ESPN on Thursday, a Fanatics-founded company that has yet to be named will be the exclusive licensee "in the baseball card category" after Panini's and Topps' licenses with the MLBPA expire at the end of 2022.
MLB's deal with Topps was extended in 2018 and runs through 2025.

NBA and NFL expire in 25 and 26.

So not sure how the MLBPA and MLB deals will make a difference

Maybe there will be a competitor to the show entering the market down the road. Personally, I would welcome that.
