We need a salary cap mode

Man they need to add one like madden would definitely be nice to have to use all cards and mix the pitchers up
-
Kind of what Events are used for but I totally agree. Would love a cap on the cards you get to use. They have some tournies going on that aet roster limits. I think its like three 95+ ovr position players, three 85-94 ovr position players and the rest gold or lower and give made some cool teams using that rule set but going into ranked facing all 95+ with those restrictions can be frustrating. Would love to see salary cap ranked or something

Agreed...my biggest issue with ranked right now is the lack of variety in pitching. I have gotten used to dealing with Degrom, Cabrera, etc....but more than anything it has just gotten boring playing the same type of game every time. There has to be a way to get more variety into the makeup of these teams. It has seemed to get a bit better on the offensive side of things...but when it comes to rotations and bullpens there is hardly any variety whatsoever. This event has been a lot of fun due to the variety of pitching.
With a salary cap, I am more of a fan of rosters that are made up BR style instead of Event style. I am not a huge fan of average 95, but I like x# at 96+, x# at 90-95, X# at 85-89. I would be fine if rosters were still able to be all diamonds...but something that prevents straight 99's. That just leads to the K, HR or fly out mode that we are all playing right now. This is my first year playing, but I would imagine I play mostly Events and BR from here on out...just because the games play out better.
However, I don't see any of this changing anytime soon. 99's make people spend money. As soon as new 99 BR/Ranked/Event rewards get released...stubs start flying. Then people face those cards and lose...and then they have to have the same card because it is a magic potion. Rinse and repeat.

You already have br and events to play with non-elite teams; ranked is the opportunity to put forth your best team, that you've put in the time to build. Don't want to play against a g*d squad, then don't play ranked.
While I agree with you it would be nice if there was a 9 inning game mode where stamina matters where you didn’t have to face god squads. I like running my Red Sox team out there but I know I’m likely going to be at a disadvantage in some matchups.

Why cant we have both? Ranked as it is now no changes. Then, a seperate Salary Cap mod just like there is Battle royale, events etc. Its own seperate thing.

100% agreed...I have always been surprised how a lot of people in this forum are opposed to options. With most things, options provides a better experience for all. As long as there are not so many options that everything suffers...and I don't think we are anywhere near that with this game.

I don't think there will be as big of a market for a salary Cap mode as you think there will be. I personally feel like it would be a waste of SDS resources to put time and Money Into a mode that has a very niche market when they could be using those resources of servers/gameplay fixes. People want to use their whole team. Half the reason you hear offline players complaining is because they don't have anything to use their full team for except conquest. 9 inning events(which is what a salary cap mode would be), just wouldn't have that many players playing it

I agree on money spent on server/gameplay fixes...but additional modes "shouldn't" really cost that much money. I hear a lot of people ask for similar and more than anything they want a mode where they can use their cards without everything being 99's.
My assumption would be the mode would pull a lot of people from BR and Events and not that many from Ranked. A Salary Cap mode also wouldn't just be the same as events as events change week to week. I have played quite a few events recently and there are weeks I have a lineup with four or five from my squad and there are weeks I have nobody from my squad. A salary cap mode would give me access to all of my cards and allow me to design my team how I choose. The more I think about it, it would be a heck of a lot of fun if done correctly.

I'm not sure a salary cap mode would accomplish much unless there were specific rule sets like events. If you were just changing the overall team rating, players would tank bench and bullpen spots. You would still be facing 99 deGrom and stacked lineups. I'm sure anyone who played 17 online remembers Terrance Gore and Christian Betancourt on opposing rosters back when rating mod mattered.
Since opponents would still have stacked teams, you would be just as likely to use your best cards as you are now. The only way that would change is if there was actually a ceiling on the overall for individual cards (like 95 or lower only), but even then a meta would quickly establish itself and the same 95 and under cards would be in every lineup.
Rotating events that keep things fresh are probably the best we will ever get, and I'm fine with that.

Which is why I would suggest something like...
Position Players
3 Spots-96+
3 Spots-90-95
Remainder-Below 90Starting Rotation
Ace-96+
#2 and #3-90-95
#4 and #5-Sub 90Bullpen
1 Spot-96+
2 Spots-90-95
Remainder-Sub 90 -
Maybe RS points for winning or losing should be different depending on your team rating.
So for example, if your team is full of 99s - your team rating would be, well, 99
A few 99s, 90s and a couple of low diamonds - team rating 85 (or whatever)
If you win that game as the 85 team against the 99, maybe you should get 15 more RS points etc
Sorry, its a bit confusing, but maybe it makes sense
-
This is actually a really good idea. I’d even go as far as to say that with each division the salary cap changes. This would make RS more competitive. Where the cap is more strict at the lower levels and uncapped after WS. This would put a premium on making WS to have restrictions lifted and would stop these gamers that intentionally hang out in the mid tiers to terrorize those who may not be at the same skill level. Great idea though!!
-
It would have to be both because they'll NEVER use a cap in regular RS. The causal players, which are 99% of the audience, want to get good cards and use good cards. And not sit there and min/max with commons and not be able to use cards they grinded for or, more importantly, paid for. Sony doesn't want to put a cap on how much people will spend.

There is no salary cap in baseball. Duh DODGERS

There also are not teams with 5 starters who all perform better than Bob Gibson on his best day. So a ton of real baseball is already gone at this point.
