So realistically I'm going to be about 4 cards off (the expensive ones lol) and I want to get him since I kind of like the 95 already from the HRD packs.
So I decided to lock in every card I have from the set and its still ridiculously expensive( I've played NMS and if I didn't lock in what I had I would've had the most stubs I've had all year) but I've only been playing about 1-2 months even though I bought it when the game came out.

So I ask is this 99 Ohtani worth it?
I mean I've got 99 Degrom (he's parallel 4 and working on 5 right now)but the Ohtani intrigues me a lot due to the fact that he's the best hitting pitcher in the game and since I like his 95 I think I likely will like his 99.

Nope, and I like Ohtani. SDS didn't really think through how to properly use his card in this game...shocking I know

I still see him as the ultimate unicorn of DD. Every other card in this game has been and will be back again. 99 Chipper, 99 Ryan, 99 Honus, it literally doesn’t matter, there just in different spots at different times every year wether WS or a collection.

You will probably never get another 125/125 power hitting 99 overall starting pitcher. Ever. Enjoy him if you like him, I just don’t see the need to pretend this card isn’t something special because it costs a lot. It’s a very unique card that will probably never resurface again.

I can’t hit with him and not a good enough pitcher with his mix. If I had a do over probably wouldn’t that’s why I’ll just take my time on Mookie

This is a great way to look at it. He may not be the best at anything, but no other pitcher can hit like he can. Is he expensive? Yes. But for the guys with stubs he’s a great get.

He’s an above average pitcher but he woulda been better as a rf in the game instead. I’d say he’s only worth the stubs if you want to put it towards the Betts collection.

He is fun to use. Basically a good not great starter but a hell of a great option as a pinch hitter. I've been using him as a pinch hitter in the middle innings and the. Leaving him in to pitch one or two. So worth it? Probably not.

No. Not even Otani and Mookie combined. I sold and will focus on other cards besides collections this year.

I've been wondering about this. When you pinch hit with him does that effect his ability to regain energy as a pitcher? Obviously when you leave him in to pitch it would, but if you just use to hit and that's it. I haven't tried it yet but if you can pinch hit with him while he regains energy at the same rate to make his next start that would be great. It shouldn't, as he isn't throwing a single pitch but you never know how the game works.
